But not to take the router would be plain daft.

Engineer doesn't have to do much except drink tea and swap a router, Just noticed on the website that you can now do a self-install for £15. What is the extra 50 quid for except to make even more money; 20mb customers get a free router so why do 50mb customers have to pay extra when they already pay quite a bit.
Fine, so Virgin say it's a 'free router package' then what exactly is the 50 quid extra for?

I'd be happy with just the installation fee but if the router and stick stays properly of VM then theres no reason to charge extra.

50Mb is only available with a manned install so they can insure it works hence the charge of £80 in total, no ifs or buts, you pay the charge you get the product.

Re: 50Mb areas
fair enough .. by the sounds of things the router is good.. so £80 is worth it for 50mbit and the good router they give you.. ukonline would charge 80 for the netgear and send you it to do it yoursrelf for the 24mbit upgrade from 8mbit
