You have listing an good list.
Nat Geo Wild HD is testing using it real name but Virgin are also testing up to 8 V0-- Channels.
We are working with three of the V0-- channels being Disney HD, CI HD and History HD.
And up to 5 more channels launching.
We have 5 ideas on what may launch: http://mediaboyblog.blogspot.co.uk/2...ay-launch.html
We will post when Virgin Media give any of the V0-- Channels real names.

What he said was 'when I cancelled SKY Movies with SKY they asked if I'd consider taking movies again if offered on an on demand basis only. So no linear movies channels on my EPG, but access too all the movies through my SKY+ box on demand.'
Doesn't this scream anything at you? Clearly, this is the way they are thinking and sooner or later, this will be the way we go. It will be cheaper for Sky to put all their movies on demand rather than having to manage all those channels. The only issue is the income, and whether subscriptions alone will pay for the cost of providing on demand only movies.

That makes sense, puts it between Nat Geo Wild and National Geographic
Be good to get another boost of HD channels, which I'm guessing is what will be coming next.

The closure of the Global I-Player seems a bit premature, however. I would have thought that would have had potential for the future. New forms of digital technology do take.time to catch on, though. Maybe it was just a little before its time.

Or maybe it was down to this

Reports suggest American pay-TV operators had threatened to drop the BBC America channel if the app had launched locally because they believed it would cost them viewers.

Yeah, because you don't jump to any conclusions about the future from any snippet of information you get.
Perhaps you will remember your wise words there in future.

I'm just expressing my thoughts about how things are likely to develop in the future, in my opinion, of course. I'm happy for you to disagree with me, that goes without saying. I'm not preaching the gospel or making huge pronouncement a based on privileged information from 'insiders' or anything like that!
This is a discussion forum, after all.

As much as i like Hd channels i'd rather have new content since i always forget to switch on HD variations due to a combination of stupidity and laziness

Like you , I much prefer to watch programmes in HD, but I have so little recording space left (90% full again) that I'm watching everything in SD. I'll be glad when we can access our programmes on TiVo through the cloud.

TBF OB, your thoughts do read as you are making a huge pronouncements of what will happen in the future. (Your recent statement about the begining of the end of linear TV, seemed like a huge pronouncement to me!) These are generally based on pretty poor media reports though, as opposed to "insiders". There is not much difference, those who know "insiders" often highlight the stuff they post is speculation, unlike your goodself, who seems to treat the media reports as gospel.
It is indded a discussion forum, and I am pleased you don't mind me obliging the forum with my posts.
As frustrating as I find your arguments, they do make for good discussion!
