Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
Use VM's superior broadband to cover deficiencies in their TV service as compared to Sky? Doesn't sound that tricky to me.

And always remember... up until a couple of decades ago, there were 4 goddamn channels. That's not even a HANDFUL!

ITV HD2? For that!!? Waste of bandwidth!
I'd rather have Universal HD, or even the CBS Channels.

The channels have incentive to be on a free platform because the advertisers are happy with it.
They have to negotiate with VM because they will presumably want to be on a good enough package that they get some money out of being on VM.
Then Sky can afford to spend more on channels so negotiations are quicker.

They are on Satellite FTA , so no Sky subscription needed.

You don't need a sky sub to watch the CBS channels they're free to air.

I think I've never been as happy to have a thumbs down function as I was when I used all three on The X-Factor.

Maximum agree. I'd love Discovery HD, or any other predominantly nature-based channel which plays David Attenborough documentaries that show off the vibrant colours, sharp focus and striking sound of 720p/1080i 5.1 material.
Last thing I want is VM TiVo PVR on one HDMI, and a Humax FoxSat PVR on another just because the TiVo doesn't pick up the free channels. With my 1080p PC connection I'm out of slots to plug the PS3 into!
