-Sports +£2.50
-Movies and Sports +£3.00

I have been told that the rest of the Sky Prices will be reveal on July 1st.
I see $ky are desperately trying to get the price hikes in before they lose the champions league rights. Here's several moaning points i want to make.

sky sports will be roughly 30 quid a month now AND YET you have to pay extra on top of that to see the sports in HD. how can they still justify that?!

secondly VM will have gone up by about 9 quid in the last 12 months and i've received sod all in terms of television acquisations except the ability to pay 6 quid extra a month for netflix.

I hate companies and i hate the world. Grrr humbug.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

thanks Ben but for me costs is the deciding factor and when i looked at collections and even phoned them up to see if I can get a better deal costwise the best they can do is always about £4 more than what i am on; Yes i would get better broadband and yes on the phone but as I dont even plug the phone in and speed i have on the lowest tier is perfectly adequate for what i do then its not worth me for the extra cash to pay more

It wasn't an oversight, Grim, it's just not how the TIVO was originally designed to work. Speaking for myself, I have never used my STB as an alarm clock!

I think Virgin are to be commended for listening to those of you who wanted this feature, but not so happy about the changes that were made to the 'Suggestions' folder, which is no longer useful to me. I hope they put it back to where it was with the next update. Those who have railed against the way it worked before simply have to turn it off!

The addition of Sky Atlantic would make it acceptable to me!

Trouble is, we've not really got competition in the consumer marketplace yet, just competition for sports rights. That being said, BT's entry has helped in one way ie that Sky is offering discounted/freee broadband to its Sky Sports subscribers. For a lot of people, the cost of the alternative sports provider fell to £0 when BT took over from ESPN.
Trouble is, we've not really got much consumer marketplace competition as BT are not allowed to sell Sky Sports on YouView, TalkTalk is not interested in HD and VM only covers half the country!

If true, they can justify it because people are willing to pay for it. Why charge less if the same or a similar number of people will pay more? Why would you take a lower salary for the same job if your employer was willing to pay you more?

That's right, we need 'proper' competition. I think it's coming, and within the next couple of years (probably sooner than later) I would not be at all surprised to see some new non-sports channels starting courtesy of BT.

Liberty Global seem to have come to the same conclusion as VM and so I don't think their policy will change much. Instead, I would expect to see new streaming apps to be added for cable viewers, similar to Netflix.

I think Sky are milking us for all we have got. What they don't seem to realise is that this is breeding resentment and when Sky subscribers get the ability to jump ship for a similar or better service, they will have no qualms about doing so.

If I were Sky I'd be worrying about the likely competition in the future. They should start thinking about that and start lowering prices, creating altogether better value for what is essentially a good product, to render that competition more difficult to establish.

I do admire Sky's achievements, but I wouldn't trust that company further than I could throw them. That's my opinion, anyway. The latest fiasco in which all the GOT series have come off the Now TV box is just one example of this. Not a good way to treat your customers. I was almost sold on that, too, just started buttering up my wife!

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

I cancelled my sky sports subs when the all the domestic football ended with the intention of rejoining in August but the likely hike to 30 quid is making me think whether to bother or not. Add the 7 quid they want for HD it`s just too much I think. There will be plenty of football on BT to keep me happy and if there is a game on sky sports I`d really like to see then there`s always the pub!

And if more people did that, it would make Sky think a bit about their charging regime!

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

But don't forget, the remaining sports channels are coming to Virgin this summer. There was always bound to be a rise to help pay for it. Just proves my theory, customers want more content but don't want to pay extra for it.

It's quite steep already tbh especially if using something like a vpn you can get Starsports for as little as £5p/m.

In regards to reminders you can download a app on android and ios called tvguideuk this will send you an alert on your phone or tablet when a show you wish to watch is about to start. Not as ideal as having it on the tivo itself but it'll do for now.

When you say `remaining sports channels` coming to virgin in the summer you refer I guess to the hd versions of sky sports 3 and 4 plus sky sports 5?
2 points I have regarding this; 1) I nor any sports customer,be it sky`s own customers or virgins, have asked sky to create a new sports channel. 2) I`m not interested in these channels in hd at the extra cost of 7 quid (yes i know there are many who are but I suspect not many like paying the extra 7 quid!
So really sky can`t justify the price rise as it`s only themselves who want the new channel and also haven`t sky saved a fair bit of money when they lost out to BT over the Champions league tv rights from 2015?
