Re: sky sports red button
When I think back, Sky did bring out a compare and contrast advert about theirs and VM sports package. It did state then that VM would have 'some' Red button facility so I guess in some respects it's no suprise.
But I do find it a little odd that when the sale of Living etc to sky was finalised that VM agreed to limited Sky red button functions...

But since then, that particular comparison disappeared from Sky's own 'Sky vs Virgin' page while staying on Sky's own 'Sky vs BT' page. I would have thought that if we had a watered down version, Sky would still be drawing attention to the fact that we do not get the whole package and the fact that Sky are not doing that suggests to me that we may get the full package at some point in the future. It seems from posts on here that there are still some bugs and glitches at Virgin's end that need to be ironed out and we may get the full package when this has happened.
Having said that, we all know the way that Sky operate - but I will keep an open mind and keep reading about users' experiences on here. As I have said on previous posts, darts is the main reason I would consider getting the sports and I would want to be sure that I would be sure to get all that I was paying for before I hand any money over to Sky. As soon as I am satisfied that that is happening, Sky will have an additional subscriber. Until then, if I have to stream some stuff that I want to watch but that Sky have hidden behind the red button, I may as well carry on streaming the lot.

If we had the whole package, there is a pretty good chance we would still be able to watch the event - but if Sky pick and choose what we get, they could withhold it. I would also want some sort of assurance about the November darts tournament which has been on the red button on the Friday night for at least the past couple of years (as there were too much live stuff for the available Sky channels) before shelling out.
As I say, I will keep an open mind and will see what transpires from this board...

The same way orignal-NTL (Langley) customers survived for ages when ex-CWC (Bromley) and Telewest (Knowsley) viewers had BBC red button functionality and we didn't, I guess.

Thought it was only ex-TW that had it, then it launched on ex-ntl along with the move to NGTV?
