Will this be symmetrical or still stuck at 10:1 at best?
I see that Coventry is on the upgrade plan for FTTP XGS-PON network, so I am keen to know if it is going to be symmetrical or not by the time my VF/CityFibre contract ends in March 2024.

Maybe in the future but for now speeds on the network remain maxed at 1130Mbps download and 100 upload on the Gig 1 service
For the vast majority, though, 100Mbps upload is more than fast enough unless you're a YouTuber or similar

I run a free Plex media server, so frequently need more than 100Mb.

They can't afford to both heat and eat in Scarborough,so gigabyte broadband might be low down the list of priorities.

Re: Virgin Boosting Speeds
Interesting point on the nexfibre website (in the "notes to editors" at the bottom of the page)
Quote:
nexfibre is a joint venture between InfraVia Capital Partners, Liberty Global and Telefónica and is financed with £4.5 billion of equity and debt investment. It will initially roll out fibre to 5 million homes not currently served by Virgin Media O2’s network by 2026, with the opportunity to expand to an additional 2 million homes.
nexfibre’s investment will provide a major boost to the UK’s digital economy and make a significant contribution to the Government’s gigabit broadband ambitions.
Virgin Media O2 is nexfibre’s anchor wholesale tenant.
nexfibre and Virgin Media O2 intend to wholesale their networks to other third-party internet service providers creating the UK’s first national-scale challenger to BT Openreach, boosting choice and competition in the market.

Re: Virgin Boosting Speeds
I’ve always wondered where the FTTP replacing HFC sits -
owned by VM02 but presumably part of any future wholesale
deal.

Re: Virgin Boosting Speeds
At first I thought it looks like they not covering all cable areas, but then its just what they doing in 2024 or earlier. So anything in 2025/2026 isnt on the list.

Re: Virgin Boosting Speeds
That "map" is pretty much completely useless.
