Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
I'm gaining muscle then I'm going to lose any excess fat that I gained while putting the muscle on as gaining muscle requires a calorific surplus. Surplus calories means fat gain.

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
The fat gain bit?
First law of thermodynamics, energy going into a closed system cannot be created or destroyed but has to be changed.
Putting it into food terms if you eat it you either have to burn it or you're going to store it. We store excess calories partly as glycogen and partly as fat.
If you were asking about how I lose it that's in theory easy, I drop from my current 3,000 calories a day to about 2,000 calories, a shade over my BMR, by reducing my fat and carbohydrate intake though not my protein intake, and exercise enough to burn more than 2,000 calories a day putting me in negative energy balance and once I've depleted glycogen store enough burning fat.

What foods do you recommend so that give you enough calories to be able to lose the weight. I like potatoes and bread and thats were Im going wrong and I do like them so dont know what I would replace them with as I feel hungry all day if I dont have the potatoes and I dont like any kind of fish

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
Defirish here is a small example of low calorie foods including potatoes. Also Nimble bread only has 48 calories per slice, so you don't have to give up your favourite foods. If you did that you would soon tire of trying to lose weight.
I have my Weight Matters course today, hope they remember to bring the scales (and hope I've lost some more). Before that I have a doctor's appointment at 8.30am for a blood test and a you know what sample. Hope they can tell me sometime soon that I am not diabetic.

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
Having a curry, several beers, half of the G/Fs curry and sampling some other peoples to check they were as hot as they looked then having a few hours sleep is NOT they best way to prepare for a 5K run on Saturday morning.
Still I managed it, crap time, but managed it and the amount of sweat lashing off me has to have been good for some form of detoxing.

23:59 - It's a tough, hilly course but I normally hit 22 minutes or under.

Re: Who Is Getting Fit This Year?
Well done Ravenheart! Keep up the good work. On Wednesday with the class I attend, it is an introduction to the gym. I am hoping that at least one of the other members will be keen enough to enrole and we can meet on a regular basis at the gym, and give each other support.
