how depressing.
This thread continues to frustrate me. Absolutely pointless channels testing. Nothing which would cost VM too much money due to arrive. Bring back 2013. A fine year on this place!

If vm don't pay the asking they don't get it it's as simple as that, no squirming about it.
VM contract with BT i imagine was only for the exsisting channels not any new channels, BT paid a lot for cl rights so they should be able to demand more money to carry the extra channels.
Sadly with SKY and BT overpaying for rights there is only one loser and that is the consumer, money has destroyed football imo.
However VM need to learn to pay up or shut up, no doubt they'll be whining to ofcom about any new charges, if vm want football so bad they should bid for it.
Sorry for the rant lol.

Really, they should leave the choice to the viewer if they can't get a decent deal. If viewers are prepared to pay over the odds for certain channels, why not let them? It's no skin off VM's nose.

Given that we can't even have Spike, I do wonder if VM overdo it a bit in specifying how much they are prepared to pay. Other platforms have it, after all.

Sky have announced here they've extended their carriage deal with Viacom , maybe VM will add the channel when they renew the deal with Viacom.

When is very much the vexed question as it always is with Virgin.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
It frustrates me even more about VM channel packages, They should let the viewer decide what cahnnels we want. As at the end of the day - ITS US THAT END UP PAYING FOR IT.
Its like Sky have increased the charge for sports, so they pass it onto us.
Its about whoever runs VM, they should put us FIRST

I'm afraid it doesn't work like that you need to have the crap to get to the good.
The crap channels are what keeps the costs down, if we all chose our own channels no doubt the price would sky rocket.
Why shouldn't vm customers get price rises when everyone else does?
It's the way the biscuit crumbles it will get much worse before it gets better, i personally am glad i'm well rid of vm and sky.
I technically do have bt as bt own plusnet lol plus my mobile is with BT.

no i doubt we are old boy but the worrying thing is theyre free channels. they wont be asking for much to come onto vm. so the urgent questions are
1) why are we not getting freeview channels?
2) why do vm appear utterly keen to spend no money
3) why are prices going up for little to no additional services
these are the things bugging me at the moment. i feel we arent being told something about virgin media currently. something is fishy with their actions

What the hell is happening at VM? This thread used to be buzzing with excitement and now when I come on everyday or two the most exciting thing possibly coming soon is some random local TV channel in the Midlands and only half a dozen or so posts.
Roll on July when my plan is to leave and Sky here I come for half price TV with Sky Atlantic and all the new channels from the start.

Hold your horses a bit mate you may get a better offer of Sky they rang me this afternoon offering 75% off for 12 months, i declined because i'm sick of virgin blaming sky, sky blaming virgin lol, but mostly because i'm happy with online tv.
@MB could one of vms testing channels be talking pictures? Just seen this on DS http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2067597

Talking Pictures TV launch 26th May on Sky..
From Channel lists.com it says that this channel is to launch on Sky. It seems to be a classic movie channel showcasing mostly British Films..how do you think it will do?. Or is there really a market for these films?

There is no such thing as 'free channels'. The channels may be advertiser rather than subscriber funded, but there are still significant costs in distributing them over and above production and content. It's not just a matter of someone pressing a button.
I assume in practice the money often flows the other way - the channels are expected to pay VM to carry them, just as they have to pay transmission and access costs for carriage on terrestrial TV.
It may be they are unwilling (or can't afford) to pay what VM charge for distribution over and above what they may be paying for transmission on Freeview and Sky.
