The CBS-branded channels appear to be set for retention as CBS Reality has been launched on Freeview and CBS Action has acquired a Freeview licence. CBS is now independent from Viacom and if AMC wanted to launch its channel here I'm sure it could purchase the capacity.
I agree with you about programme rights, hence why the UK will probably get it after the other countres. But as AMC's flagship channel a version must surely come here at some stage.

Lifetime and now history 2 (chuckle) have previously had the rights to the x files in the uk. Yet for some bizarre reason the two channels only ever show season 1 and 2. Anyone know why? Cheapness?

What a good idea to create more space. I've also thought that, if it is technically possible, that the ability to weed out the adverts in recordings would be useful too.
