Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
Most of the time the dodgy decisions have no real effect, except on that one game, the reason why the Bolton one is famous is because it happened at the end of the season and had a direct bearing on where two clubs played their football the season after, having said that though I certainly would not have wanted to be the referee in that game, I think I would have been to scared to make a decision for fear of getting it wrong.

anyone remember the Everton one a few season back on the last day of the season.. either Cottee or Limpar dived in the box to win a pen and they stayed up because of it

Wouldn't it be nice to see the same team for maybe two or even three matches in a row....

I don't think that Heinze is worrying too much about getting his place back. Hopefully it is just a nervous start from Evra..
|
Heinze is one of Fergies better buys, he should walk straight back into the team when fit...........Evra has done very well, but is still settling in imo
|
Heinze could have had a battle to get back in, if Evra had impressed, but to me he hasn't Just hope that it is debut nerves...

No real effect.
What about a perfectly good Paul Scholes goal, ruled out for offside. Jose would still be at Porto but for that woeful decision.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
more cheating and diving during the chelsea game
Kewell got a hand slightly touching his face and went down
Reina did a good tackle on Gudjohnson but caught him with his thigh afterwards and gudjohnson went down holding his ankle.. although somehow he managed to play the rest of the game ok
Robben went down when Reina but a hand on his face
anyone see the rugby yesterday .. there was some punching in the match and both players stood up.. a Italian was trood and stamped on because he was on the wrong side of the ball and he just got up and made nothing of it
even during the Arsenal game yesterday when Heskey was sent off.. once he kicked someone in the chest and the second time he connected with an arm across the chest but both times the players held their face.. why ?

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
I notice in every game when I see on replays and no matter who is playing I feel bad for it as it is happening far too often. No consistency in the game either what is a red card one day can be a nothing offense the next.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
ok i said i was going to do this and i've got so fed up i did
i've created an on-line petition so if we can get enough signatures on it we can force UEFA and FIFA into seeing the fans see diving and cheating as a problem and will do something about it
the petition is here
http://www.gopetition.com/region/237/8032.html
can i ask as many of you to sign it as can and pass it onto anyone you thing might be interested. Later on today i'll send the URL round to all of the member associations of UEFA and see what they say about it.
Would be great if some of you could help me spead the word about this, particularly outside the UK, and get as many people as we can to sign it
if we just sit here watching diving and cheating nothing will ever be done about it

Umm yeah it looks like we getting holloway and its a absymal appointment if it happens. Rob kelly is winning games so if the first choice arent available (newell/allen/davies) then why not just wait instead of getting any manager for the sake of it.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
What makes me laugh about diving and cheating as that we are up in arms when it happens against our teams in the league but every time micheal owen goes down when someone brushes past him or taps him on the shoulder at international level, a very big blind eye is turned.....and it was definately a penalty!

actually i don't like it when players for Man U do it and i've seen Ruud and Ronaldo and most of our team do it at some point.. i don't like Owen doing it for England and the pen he "won" in our last qualifies can't remember if it was Austria or Poland wasn't a pen either.. he was claiming for it with his hands in the air before he had even hit the ground
Now it seems that Rafa will get punished for what he said about Robben but even though he cheated nothing will happen
That's why i set up the petition above.. if we can get as many people as we can to sign it then we can show UEFA and FIFA how much of a problem the fans think this is

Things will only truely change when managers condemn THEIR OWN players for cheating rather than saying "I did not see it", or "It definately was a penalty, the lad was touched in the box, he went down , penalty"
Once the Fergies, Wengers and Benetiz's (amongst others) start fining and critcising their own team publicaly for blatant cheating, then they have every write to criticise their opponents.

Re: [Merged] The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
yes part of that is true but then no one forces the players to cheat and dive and try to get others sent off.. it happens all the way through the game now even in lower leagues
Simon Jordan was on MOTD 2 and he said he didn't like it but i've seen players at Palace do it with no action being taken
it's because the managers KNOW the FA and UEFA wont take any action that they allow it
