Too right. Reliability is far more important than speed.
No way do I want a Superdud, stick with my trusty NTL250. Unless you download loads (most don't), the speeds at above 20MB start to become irrelevant.

I agree, however I also like to get the speed I pay for.

I thought that as well dude many moons ago when I was on 20mbit but I loved going from 20 to 50. When I was on 50 I only wanted 100 for the increased upload speed but the download speed sure is sweet. Why download a gb in 3 mins when you can do it in a minute and a half

Not in that much of hurry ( penny of penny wise) faster speed that works for the same price. Is not the same as a price increase days after saying free upgrade. Which I am still waiting for by the way

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Any news on when updates will be really happening?
My Virgin Media still shows my area has been updated when it hasn't.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed

It's still 111000000 bps, which I understand means my area is still 100Mb?

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
Of course by "fluff" he means extra padding to their average speedtest numbers, without which their average speed for 100Mb users at peak times would drop below 70...

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed
111000000 bps translates to about 105.85 mbps. The 120mbps is currently being rolled out in Cosham and is set to 133000000 bps.

That's a common misconception. It translates to 110mbps. Network speeds (also hard drive sizes and CPU clock speeds) are measured in multiples of powers of 10, not 2. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_1541.
VM set the actual speed slightly higher than advertised because it's not possible to run the connection at 100% with real-world protocols.
ps. Welcome to the forum!

Same here. When you ask them, it appears that they don't really know.
I've even had excuses like 'they Olympics held it up because they couldn't do any work underground in parts of London'. So I just asked them 'so what's your excuse im my area, as I'm 35 miles north from London?'.

120Mbit schedule still hasn't been released yet, so still in the same position as discussed before.
