The Computer Shopper report is obviously incorrect then. Now I understand why a big fuss hasn't been made about it in this thread

The original ITV HD test channel was primarily to show World Cup matches before it disappeared and left Telewest with just BBC HD for what seemed like an eternity.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

I wonder why VM are not launching sky sports news hd and sky news hd at the same time but "later on". Has there been a different contract signed for these channels with a different start date??

Or are VM thinking that due to the fact they're not trying to acquire any channels anymore to save money they're trying to spread channel launches about to make it look better for them?

I think there will still be more channels to come, Vince, they just won't be Sky channels

Sadly only seem to acquiring channel that are chargeable extras hence the delay and non urgency with the others and also why sky Atlantic isn't included, and all this jumping for joy at the arrival of hd sports channels will be short lived when the hefty price rise in September happens

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

Joy won't be short-lived from me. Price rises were coming anyway.

Atlantic has already been explained in that Sky and VM do not agree on the value of the channel. It is nothing to do with only wanting chargeable channels.

Also think MB has explained before that Sky News HD and Sky Sports News HD are delayed as they are part of a different carriage deal so will launch later.....something like that.

Sky News and Sky Sports News HD channels goes under Sky Basic Channels.

Base on past Sky Basic deals we may not see them until October 2014 or even up to April 2015.

i agree howard. i'm very negative these days i dont like it...but not getting anything really to make me think differently. i'd consider sky as it'd probably be cheaper for the first 6 months but i hate change and sky broadband is meant to be horrendous.

It's worse than horrendous mate...

Before my in-laws moved to VM, they had Sky and Sky Broadband. They were forever losing connection and were told by technicians to "unplug and plug in" the telephone line to the router..To expect older people to do this is disgusting. I would stick well clear of Sky Broadband mate.

And don't forget that you have to fork out £65 just for a call out if your box goes wrong out of warranty.

You don't get much of value transferring from VM to Sky, Vince, most of the channels that we don't have are rubbish.

Except one I could mention.....but won't

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

Source tells me Skysports newsHD will be in the XL pack as will Sky news HD.
No date given for launch as of yet.

This is always wheeled out - I have never known ANYONE to be actually charged the £65 call out charge.

It's more common than you think. When I was with Sky, I have been charged a call out fee, so have friends and family
