Mine too.

"If you upgrade to our VIP 50 package, the monthly fee for your TiVo service is on us. There's free installation too, and your exisiting V+ HD box is yours to keep, for free."

If the V+ HD box becomes my property, what happens if it stops working? Will I need to pay for the Virgin engineer to fix it or will I need to pay for a replacement box? Also does that mean I will have the right to sell it or tinker with it?

I think it just means you can keep the box without paying a sub , they would still replace it if it were to break.

The boxes don't become your property and can't be sold, so as long as you're subscribed they will get fixed for free.

They will install your V+ box in another room without paying a sub.

Re: Anyone received a offer from Virgin regarding the 500gb box

It's all very confusing, well it is for me anyway.

Quote 1:

"If you upgrade to our VIP 50 package, the monthly fee for your TiVo service is on us. There's free installation too, and your existing V+ HD box is yours to keep, for free."

Quote 2:

"Upgrading to our VIP 50 package doesn't mean losing your V+ HD Box and all the good stuff inside it forever. We know how much it means to you. So you can keep it and enjoy HD in another room at no extra charge*."

Quote 3:

* "You will continue to pay the standard monthly fee for all existing additional set top boxes."

So the V+HD box isn't actually going to be mine to keep. I don't have to pay any TiVo charge on VIP50 and I don't have to pay anything for my V+ HD box per month either? Quote 3 is from the terms and conditions. I'll assume this then relates to a 3rd box, if you have one in the house? I'm sure I'll be wrong somewhere here.

Is it just me or could Virgin have made this clearer?

You just need to remember that Virgin Media owns the equipment, and you pay to use it and if you stop subscribing it stops working.

I was hoping that the 'exclusive' might have meant free installation,..

Think a lot of people 'hoped' that too

Not necessarily - the 1TB is £150 and 1/2 TB is only £50 - marketing balls up? dunno - but it's clear that the price discrepancy is not just reflecting drive space (£30 tops)

There should've been a forth coming offer of some sort on the 1/2 TB model - just not necessarily free install

I agree about it being very confusing, hence the reason I suggested elsewhere on this forum that virgin should make these offers clearer. I`ve read my letter/leaflet over and over again and I`m still non the wiser. If anyone from virgins customer sertvices department is reading this then the message customers are saying on here is MAKE THE OFFERS CLEARER!!

I just want offers and communication to be clear and understandable. I hate reading something that leaves me confused, it makes me feel feeble minded. I'm sure there's plenty of people who know exactly what Virgin mean with this latest offer / mail shot however not everyone reads at the same level. Oh and whilst I'm ranting, there's way too much stuff tucked away in the small print, but that's by pretty much all companies these days, not just Virgin.

Now don`t get me started on the subject of `small print`! I detest it and think it should be outlawed altogether. As you say it is`nt just virgin,it`s all companies that use it. Whenever I see an attractive offer from any company I go straight to the small print as that`s were they hide all the stuff that`s not so attractive.

Can anyone confirm if this is really the case on the "keep your V+ box for free when you take TiVo" deal?

Thats what I was told so I had the 500gb Tivo installed on Friday. They moved the V+ box into the kids room and took away the v box.

I rang them twice to confirm the only additional charge were the £49.99 for the hire of the box, £40.00 installation and £3.00 per month Tivo service charge.

If they mess me about I will have it took out which will be a shame as the Tivo is Fab.

To Note: I am well happy with the picture quality as well (42" Panasonic Plasma)

I thought they said in the letter that the special offer includes NOT paying the £3 a month charge for tivo its offered for free per month. I'm glad your happy with the picture quality as this is the only thing that was worrying me, that the SD channels were weaker than the V+ box.
