Correct me if I`m wrong but isn`t Sky sports just 2 quid dearer on virgin than on Sky? if so then Virgin only make a 2 quid proffit per subscriber or am I working it out wrong? Either way I agree sports is becoming too expensive.

Have you taken into account Sky put their customer fees up on 1st June - mine is going up over £5pm ?

 | I notice Sky are increasing the cost of HD for their customers too. What a rip off! Surely it`s time they dropped this charge? Just how much more does it really cost Sky to provide HD channels? And would this cost increase or decrease as technology in general tends to come down in costs over the years? I suspect this is just another way for Sky to squeeze a bit more out of customers. And yes I know Virgin have a HD charge within their bundles before someone comes on here to remind me!

I think you only pay VM extra for HD with the Sky Sports/Movie channels - with Sky it is required for all their HD channels.

They are both too expensive , take a look at their websites 50% discounts and free gifts such as tablets seems they are both going to extraordinary lengths to attract new customers.

Though of course the real answer is "because they can". They set the prices at a level that they judge will maximise revenue, just like VM and every other company does.

Sky are upfront about their HD charge but Virgin `hide` it in my opinion.

 | I agree they both charge it because they can. I`d love to see people saying `no Sky/Virgin we wont pay this extra charge please cancel my HD channels`. They wont of course which is why they keep charging it!

I haven't compared the XL pack to the equivalent Sky+HD to see how much of a difference there is?
