It OK for Sky to hold channels back from other networks.
But not OK for BT to do so they must pay £?m per year for the cost of running it for the other broadcasters to use it and keep calling it an other name.

Couldn't agree more. It's about time the authorities got on to Sky's backs as well - where is the consistency?

Yes, and Sky have exclusive access to first run HBO shows and we rely on Sky to enable us to see these shows.
Someone wants to do a bit of joined up thinking.
Thanks for the info, Blue.

You mean the network funded by public money many years ago , are you suggesting only BT should have access ?

In 1982. the Government formally announced its intention to privatise British Telecom with the sale 51% until selling 100% in 1993.
BT Broadband was not launch until 2000/2001.

I'm replying to your original post what started it or have you forgot , I'm fully aware of the history but the point still stands and why its network is open to competitors , VM being one who's used it.

I think it's perfectly valid, MB, provided it relates to how this may affect what's coming soon to Virgin Media TV.
What happens in terms of Ofcom's pronouncements could well affect us in a number of ways.

Just in time for the Russian Open in golf. I know not everyone's sport, but I like watching it but might need to cut down package. Just realised my discount ends in July.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2
By 20th July means by race day for the German Grand Prix weekend. It's also a Sunday, and unless I'm mistaken that pretty fairly rules it out as a launch day, although I'm sure there have been Sunday launches. A Thursday launch is more likely, and would allow for the entire race weekend, not just the race day, to be broadcast live. I think now 17th is probable, it's after the World Cup and before the 20th, on a day of the week which is more likely to see channel launches. I think Virgin's press release also included a picture from f1.

It's no wonder McLaren are struggling. Again.
Or that Merc are doing well, depending on which news outlet's got it right!

It's not a good week to work for a formula 1 team and have an opinion!
I like the idea that he's taken out a bag of football kits for poor kids though.
