Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
What a debacle !
Van der sar was definately at fault for the first, the second was just a comedy of errors. Ferdinand was looking straight at Van der sar when he passed the ball back, so maybe wasn't as quick thinking as he should have been. Why do defenders keep passing the ball straight at the goal, when making a back pass. It's like England Croatia all over again. Surely passing to either side of the goal would be a little more sensible.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Sorry... I actually thought you backpassed it so if the keeper didn't get it, it would go out for a corner. Thought that was ingrained into footballers from the yr dot.
I rarely backpass because i'm a winger (so it's if I'm moved into defence) but I normally make sure it's not on target. If I can, Rio and Gary Neville can.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
sure VDS has made some good saves but what's the point in that if you are going to let in goals as well... he has never learnt and still punches and flaps.. the second goal shows he has no decision making skills any more and doesn't know whether to come or stay on in line.. most of the time he never comes off his line and in 2 years he's never once shouted to Rio what he is doing and what's around him
even on the first goal you can see after he flapped at it he started to go for the ball that was loose and then stopped as he didn't know what to do.. he did the same thing in the second half and earlier in the season he punched a ball to a Reading player so they could score
he's all over the place and will only get worse.. sure he won the title in Italy and the European Cup but that was in the past.. so has Stepney but that doesn't mean we should still be playing him
did we have to beat of AC, Bayern and Real to get him no.. no other top club wanted him.. he he had still been at Fulham everyone would compare him to Seaman in his final years where he played on too long and was past it

It's opening lines like that which makes reading the rest of your post seem pointless to me
Just look at this and look at the goals conceded colum and you will see what your saying is rubbish- http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...le/default.stm

It could be worse, we might have had Massimo Taibi in goal still
Actually, I think Van Der Sar is one of the better keepers in the premiership at the moment.

Mourinho baits Man Utd over title
Quote:
Mourinho said: "United are very lucky they don't have to play here next week. Can you imagine them here next weekend? "That's the game where they will slip up, against us, so they're very lucky."

What makes him so sure
West Ham, Arsenal, and even Bolton might do United some favours yet, let alone United beating Chelsea in their own back yard, but we will see...
Man Utd's remaining Premiership fixtures:
Tuesday, 17 April
(H) Sheff Utd
Saturday, 21 April
(H) Middlesbrough
Saturday, 28 April
(A) Everton
Saturday, 5 May
(A) Man City
Wednesday, 9 May
(A) Chelsea
Sunday, 13 May
(H) West Ham
Chelsea's remaining Premiership fixtures:
Wednesday, 18 April
(A) West Ham
Sunday, 22 April
(A) Newcastle
Saturday, 28 April
(H) Bolton
Sunday, 6 May
(A) Arsenal
Wednesday, 9 May
(H) Man Utd
Sunday, 13 May
(H) Everton
That last game for United against West ham has a ring of Déjàvu about it, only this time the fixture is at Old Trafford,

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Schmeichel can't be replaced, Oh wait, yes he can, Foster, it's a miracle.
We are still OK. Everton Away is the last big hurdle for me. We will take points off Chelsea, it will be a draw I think, that will negate that game. As long as we take points from Everton we will be OK. Chelsea have to go to Bolton yet and the Emirates, that is a tricky six points.
Arsenal for all their insane results this year are a force, for me the Prem does lie, Arsenal and UTD are the best sides in the Prem if you take it on football played, I think the Gunners are more than capable of turning Chelsea over. Lets hope.
VDS has been a revelation since he came, we should have gone for him not Barthez. I could care less about the ECL, it is a bigger cherry than the FA Cup, that sits on the Prem title, but a Cherry none the less. So I am miffed that he dropped Ole and Giggs for Richardson (He will be gone this summer) and Fletcher, with the Roma game in mind. Chelsea are in luck mode though, Watford was unreal, Spurs mauled them at times, what the hell was Robinson doing with Carvalhos goal.
It will be the injuries that cost us. Louis, Louis, Louis, Louis (Kaiser Chiefs).

Defoe is on his way i think, to who i dont know, but i pity the poor sods wherever he goes. He is not first choice at spurs and theres a good reason for it, no consistancy.
Just watched the Arsenal Newcastle game on premplus, what a borin pile of cack, Arsenal be lucky to finish 4th at this rate.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
well it seems Watford can do what we can't and beat pompey :-(
has anyone noticed when a team plays Man U as soon as we get the ball they are right close in on us putting us under pressure and work for the whole game
when they play Chelsea they sit back and let them play and have a lower work rate

Well i cant say i have noticed, and im no chavski fan, the chavs are just like the mancs in 1 sense, have some good players, and have a lot of luck, sometimes you dont need a great performance to win, just a little luck.

No problem whatsoever.
Dagenham & Redbridge are punching above their weight even if they are champions

Apparently you had done a deal to sign him at the start of the season, you couldn't afford him though until Van Nistelroy had been sold, still I am sure that won't stop you trying to tap him up this summer though
