Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
well i'd rather have Foster in goal than VDS.. put it this way of VDS had been at Watford he would be lower down the stats and would have let in more goals than Foster has
Cech is a bit more of an old style English keeper.. if the ball is in your hands or off the pitch then the other team can't score
Robinson kept the ball alive in one of Englands games with a punch and they scored from it
VDS kept the ball alive against Roma and Reading and both teams scored
also it's not just the English that cause trouble in Europe

maybe we should ban all Scottish teams as well

Its the only way to be sure this doesn't happen. If the fans cant behave - ban them.
Which, to his credit, is exactly what David Murray has threatened to do.

I'm not really sure which planet you're on sometimes.
Exactly what experience do you have of european football ? And by that I mean, have you actually been to a european fixture away from home ? I have, and can tell you, everything you see on the tv and indeed in newspapers, is for the most part, sensationalistic journalism.

It wasn't a dig at him honest
I realise who he supports, I'm merely pointing out, if people have no experience of actually being there, there is plenty of opinions simply by looking at footage that the press boys want us to see, rather than the mitigating circumstances. I've witnessed events, before and after european games, that never get any air time, and why should they, that would deviate from the sensationalism the press like to report.

Whilst he isn't world class anymore he is a still class above most and there seems to be a lack of top draw goal keepers at the moment

Reina has kept 16 clean sheets in the league. 6 more than James. He has made a few blunders so even though he has more clean sheets he is below James.
Does anyone know of a site where you can get proper stats for goalkeepers? Been searching the net and can't find any. It would be interesting to see what the actual figures are for number of crosses VDS has come out for and the number he has successfully gathered.

I notice how the Rangers fan edited my post to remove insults about Rangers fans.
Classic moderating there.

Looked like Man U fans scrapping with Police to me..
I wonder what planet some people are on within this forum sometimes, standing up for bigoted actions / nazi salutes, fighting with the police etc. Its disgraceful.

Looked like Man Utd fans getting a beating from the police for commiting exactly the same offence as the Roma fans who had no action taken against them to me.
Don't let the facts get in the way of your trolling though.

Don't let the facts get in the way of your biased views either.

It turned ugly shortly after the opening goal as both sets of supporters surged towards the dividing Perspex fence. The police response was brutal.
'Forced to intervene'
They beat supporters as they tried to escape - several were trapped in their seats. At least one was hit repeatedly as he lay prostrate on the ground.
And some fans said they were struck by officers as they pleaded for medical help.
But today at a police press conference, the chief of policing in Rome, Achille Serra, said he supported the police actions.
"To criticise the police is a sport," he said "The British always like to do it.

Why were there police only on the man u side of the partician ? Why not both ? Why did an Italian journalist say, the police were baying for blood, even before a ball was kicked ?
Little has been made or reported about several incidents, where supporters were ambushed by gangs of "ultra's". why is that ?

I wonder why you have posted about incidents concerning both Rangers and Man U. Two clubs you admit a hatred of. Only making posts to support your own agenda is pretty weak in my opinion. The rest of us will post about other incidents (the policeman killed in Italy recently) for example, yet you don't seem interested in that. But then again, why bother talking about an Italian being killed, when there are plenty of digs you can get in about Rangers and Man U.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Incidentally, i am condoning the actions of the Police here, what i am doing is criticizing the actions of the Man U fans.

Why just the actions of Man Utd fans? Why not criticise the actions of both sets of fans?
And you called me biased.

Yes indeed, why bother about the Italians when it was widely criticized in the British press and on here by other members of the Forum.. The point had already been made. Yet somehow, tables turned and Man U / Rangers fans start to cause trouble (even though it hasn't resulted in any deaths - yet) and everyone jumps to their defence.
Yes, its simply because im supporting my own agenda, thats all it is.
