I think the days of going to your TV for the weather are long gone, just look at the app on your phone wherever you are.
Regarding price rises, unfortunately the slump in the £ v $ since the Brexit vote will impact pay TV costs adversely and inflation has now reached a two-year high.
But we are getting more channels including many from Sony which was a gap in VM's portfolio. And new Starz VOD and Edinburgh VOD. And a new box. And new locations are getting access to VM services, increasing price competition in those locations even if people are not with VM. So plenty of good things to cheer about.

Clearly not as I noticed its removal.

The CPI has increased from 0.5% to 0.6% but don't worry, still a fairly wide safety margin before we hit the Venezuelan level of inflation.

True, I'll soon be able to ignore them on VM as well as Freeview. I can't say I've ever been impressed with the content available on Sony's budget portfolio of channels.

Good point we feel since Sony took over CSC Media they need to have an better content available on Sony channels then sell EPG off on Sky to get in some money.
Here our views from 2014: http://mediaboyblog.blogspot.co.uk/2...edia.html#more

Quite expensive for VM to allocate a 24/7 slot to a FTA overnight service with no subscription income and expensive for the provider if VM passes on the full cost.

Very true.
You'd think that these text n tits channels would timeshare to cut costs, a children's channel would be ideal.

You can be observant and notice the app's removal but use your mobile phone for weather; the two are not opposites. I am surprised anyone used such a service but appreciate that not everyone has a smart phone and everyone's different.

Many things are priced in $ from microchips to film rights. With a weaker Pound, this will unfortunately feed through into pay-TV costs over time.

Agreed. Bearing in mind Sony's high-quality positioning of its electronics division, I've always been surprised at the way its TV channels are pitched at the other end of the market.

Yes. His blog is proudly claiming the Babestation news as a Media Boy exclusive. If he tries to fob you off saying that he read it on another forum...well, we know that's not entirely true.

I prefer to focus on one screen at a time. An app is an app whether it is on a phone or a tv.

True of course but there is the added factor of the belief that Brexit will inevitably bring increased prices. A factor that has held petrol prices higher than necessary for the past several weeks until the supermarkets finally lead the way with price cuts. This expectation of higher prices is something suppliers will undoubtedly use to their advantage.

Brexit will bring higher costs to industry and higher prices to consumers...but we haven't left the EU yet so are not feeling the full ramifications.
I think it will be tougher times for pay-tv companies who face higher sports rights costs and will now face higher entertainment content and equipment costs. I wonder if this could encourage BT and Sky to wholesale their 4K UHD content to VM or if they will strive to keep it exclusive?

In a ideal world SKY,BT and VM would work together to bring their customers top packages at reasonable prices.
