Re: The iPhone thread

Supposedly early next year. Does seem quite a delay on what is the selling point of the product, well other than the name.

This idea does seem to be a good workaround for the moment though http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/4266...oes-work-in-uk

Re: The iPhone thread

iPhone battery life is notoriously poop. Much like most smartphones to be honest. I would suggest switching off WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth when not needed, along with turning down the brightness of the screen and disabling automatic syncing (with gmail or whatever). All of these measures will improve battery life.

The batteries do need some complete discharges and full charges 2/3times when they are new to calibrate them correctly.

The iPhone 4+4s are supposed to have better battery life than that though, unless you are using it as an iPod alot?

If you already have iOS5 downloaded...

Just try "Update" within iTunes. It shouldn't be a problem now.

If it is a problem, or it tries to spend ages performing a backup, then instead of clicking on Update, shift-click on Restore and browse to the firmware location (e.g. on Windows, it's "C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\<iDevice Name> Software Updates\*.ipsw"
Cheers Matt.

It does appear to be working through itunes, but it's very slow.

I'll see if it completes before I try anything else.

I do. I think it's horrible and crap and a complete mess. I had to go back to my Nokia to message people earlier it's just so confusing and takes too much of my time.

I prefer the modern conversation list used by most smart phones now. Makes it easier to follow. My GS2 has a messaging app and have a theme to make it look like the iPhone bubbles as they are cool.

Re: The iPhone thread

Article in the Mail on Sunday magazine today points out that Siri only works 80-85% of the time, which means it might as well not work. Says the benefits of the 4S are lost and you might as well stick with the 4 and iOS5 upgrade and get the bits that work.

I also noticed that 1 in 5 Blackberry users were reported to be considering changing from Blackberry to iPhone after the RIM problems earlier this month. I do have to admit, Apple must have been astounded at their luck to have that happen when they introduce their own messaging service to rival Blackberry.

Although I like Messages app and the way it presents messages of all types, I sometimes wish you could turn the conversation view off..

It makes sense if you do regularly have text conversations, but if most of your texts are reminders to (for example) get the milk, there isn't a lot of sense in presenting them as a conversation.

Whats wrong with the baloons where you see the message as a proper conversation.
No point switching folders to inbox, sent box, etc.
Works for me.

Anyone know if Siri will come to the Iphone 4 or is it exclusive to the 4S?
