Terrific performance by Liverpool last night, mind you PSV were awful, they must have played some real c**p teams to get this far.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has rubbished Valencia's complaints that the away dressing room at Stamford Bridge is a "rat-hole" with only one mirror and three showers. He says it has two mirrors and 10 showers. (Daily Star)
Notice he didn't dispute the 'rat hole' claims though

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Roma 2-1 Man Utd
United were up against it for an hour and held out quite well without that wonderful tackler Scholes.
One goal is all that is required at OT to go through.
I have a feeling in the return leg that Roma's formation will be 5-4-1.............It could be one of those frustrating games AGAIN

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
See English football fans were at it again last night - disgraceful.
I think its about time UEFA stepped in with another ban on travelling fans or better yet a ban on English clubs in Europe for a year or two until they get the message (again).
Good result though.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
well once again VDS punches the ball out to the other team and they score .. he did the same against Reading but then we was 4-0 up so it didn't matter this time it did
all season he hasn't known whether to come off his line or not and he starts to come then stops and he never tells Rio and Vidic what is going on behind and in front of them like a good goalkeeper should.. he past his best and flaps at things and punches and it looking too old

Uefa has launched an investigation after crowd violence erupted during Wednesday's Champions League tie between Roma and Manchester United.
Riot police charged at United fans at the Stadio Olimpico as both sets of supporters threw missiles.

Not really, your own article says both sets of supporters threw missiles, I don't remember seeing any pictures of Italian fans being battered, might just be that Man U were right about travelling there.
Wonder why you weren't calling for Italian fans to be thrown out of Europe

I'm not stupid enough to think the blame lies with only one set of fans.
You have to ask why when the offence was commited by both sets of fans the police only enforced the law on the english fans?

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
well seeing as Roma launched an unprovaked attacked on some fans before the game and stabbed people surely they should be banned from Europe.. they also stabbed Boro fans last year too
http://www.teamtalk.com/football/sto...039789,00.html
maybe people should get all the facts before posting about whether teams should be fined and banned
even as a Man U fan I don't really know what happened and neither to UEFA and the Rome Police yet they are still investigating and checking the TV footage etc

If you ask me Van Der Sar has won us more games with superb goalkeeping than he's cost us with the odd error.
What about his save from Crouch against Liverpool.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
I never said anything about the Italian support as we all know what they are like and some of you have already posted about what should happen to that lot.
Besides, this being the UK the behaviour of the English shows up all the home nations and its my right to complain about it and request something is done.
Why is it that when English fans go abroad they always seem to get into trouble. Its always the other team / the police / any other reason you can pull out the hat, never ever the fault of the travelling support.

I don't believe he's made any saves that Kuschzak or Foster wouldn't have saved but he has made several errors that they wouldn't.. just watch him on crosses and corners and he's no idea whether to come or not
sure he made some saves against Fulhum but when they hit the post where was he.. standing there watching. when they had a chance for a goal at the far post and Brown did enough to put the FUlham bloke off.. where was in .. in totally the wrong place
sure he won a lot in the past but that's the point that's in his past at an team other than Man U he would have let in loads of goals it's just with Rio and Vidic his errors aren't picked up as much until last night.. take the Reading goal he gave them if that game was 0-0 at the time we would have lost it

The calculations are based on the four key factors that contribute to a player's effectiveness and his ability to help his team win matches. The formulae were devised through analysis of hundreds of games since the start of the Premiership in 1992 and have been statistically proven to measure a player's effectiveness in winning matches.

I am not to sure how much faith I'd have in stats, David James has kept loads of clean sheets recently and yet he is third, one above Reina who Liverpool are seemingly trying to sell. I also think Sherer has a point goalkeepers from the major European countries, most do 'flap' at crosses, although if you did get rid of him, who would you get to replace him? Whilst he isn't world class anymore he is a still class above most and there seems to be a lack of top draw goal keepers at the moment
