Re: Kelly's BT Openreach Engineers

Anyone that is thinking of starting work for kellys on the BTOR network will soon realise its not as good as you think i have been with kellys for just under a year and it is the worst company and also the laughing stock of the industry. Stay clear and look for a company that takes an interest in there engineers and not abuse them. The bullying from managers and area managers is unreal shouting swearing down the phone at you threatining. Most of the lads have been here for awhile now where all told by there agencies to record all phonecalls on the mobiles and keep a track of emails as well. Dont accept anything has you dont work for kellys you are a subcontractor and all they can do is refer you back to your agency. I have accepted for a role at telent which manage there staff alot better and actually answer the phones when u ring a manager and not ignore you. So guys and girls if u want to work in this industry DO NOT WORK for kellys simple.

What on earth are you talking about? They are taking on 1600 staff they are not subcontractors they are actual direct labour. Though you can tell yourself that Kelly's and Quinn's will be busier if that makes you feel better.

iPhone with special apps, not Blackberry. Probably likely to be one of the little Fiats. The guys doing repairs get the bigger vans.

Re: Kelly's BT Openreach Engineers

I do have a question about openreach engineers and don't want it to come across or sounding greedy its just I haven't heard any one mention it, sounds silly tbf lol but do engineers only work on just 40 hour basis or is there overtime there to be done? And what is flexi time? because me personally have never heard of it

There's plenty of overtime but it's all optional. Wages vary massively between colleagues who earn a bit more than their basic pay and others that work overtime and earn an awful lot more. You can work a few hours overtime every weekday night if you want, and/or volunteer for weekend overtime.

However it's interesting as if you think about it, taking on 1600 staff might actually mean there's less overtime in 6 months time.

Flex is basically where you can finish an hour early or work up to an hour later than your finish time and your flex balance goes up and down. It isn't possible to start your day earlier though.

Re: Kelly's BT Openreach Engineers

Yeah this is what they said we should be expecting next the contract when though I'm not sure. I think someone on the forum mentioned the new employees would be on a scaled down salary to existing employees so there obviously something the union don't like. Hopfully change for the better on our behalf and be sorted soon so we can get our contracts. The ones we had first were, only provisional contracts I take it it's for that reason.

Re: Kelly's BT Openreach Engineers

Yeah they defo said it would be an improvement on what's been in the provisional contracts so 21200 is a bit better, I have been checking the cwu website but I don't know when these changes will be published and communicated, Anyone else starting same time as me lads? 13th October yarnfield?
