Re: World Cup road to 2014
I strongly believe that players such as Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge and Lampard MIGHT play well for their club. But when they play for their country, all it is, put on the shirt play 90 minutes and that is it.
When you play in Internationals its a total different ball game. Now we have the World Cup in our midst.
How many times has the squad been booed off the pitch under Roy Hodgson - several times, WHY, the fans feel that they are not playing to their potential.
When we play in the competition - they have got to play 110%, as the teams will be much stronger than them. Last nights performance was about winning the game, WRONG.
Playing last night was to be a proof that they are good enough for the finals. Sorry but when Hodgson chooses the players to go to Brazil - he has to choose the players that will give that performance. Sadly he will choose some of the old guard.
Should Rooney and Welbeck go - my answer is NO. Rooney reminds me of Martin Chivers- sometimes lazy and goes without scoring for several games.
Welbeck - still young and a lot to prove.
We will need players that will play Blood, sweat and Tears for the white shirt. I remember what the famous Bill Nicholson once said - If you don't want to wear the white shirt with pride and give blood or sweat - then don't bother turning up.
Thats why Chivers was dropped to the bench - a big name then - but Hodgson has to do this to the present squad.
Last nights performance wasn't good enough to take on the might of the countries that are there now.
They need a kick up the backside from Hodgson. They are there now so its up to the players to prove they are worthy of playing in the footballs greatest tournament.

Like you said yourself Rooney scored in every game. Arthur is just biased and anyone that doesn't play for spurs is crap and lazy.
I'm for Welbeck. I don't care if he spurned some chances. He's young and fairly new to international football. He'll get there and so will Sturridge. Arthur though calls for Roy Hodgson to drop the old guard and replace them with a 31 year old Jermaine Defoe... Which would likely result in the youngsters being dropped. So Rooney over Defoe any day and Welbeck and Sturridge please.

Re: World Cup road to 2014
England will not be seeded.
What a troll of a ranking system. This whole based on recents results ranking is a joke. Switzerland are seeded? are you having a laugh Italy and Netherlands join England in being shafted by the most corrupt governing body in sport.

Not sure exactly how the draw will be made but doesn't that mean that England could be drawn against Switzerland or Columbia and two other unseeded countries.?

Yes that would be nice if we faced one of the above named but equally Spain , Germany and Brazil could await too.

Portugal and France to win.
Ronaldo to put on a masterclass and Yohan Kebab to score a free kick.
