When I booked I tried to get it as close to the fibre install day as possible. Noticed from their calender that they could do the install really quickly but only allowed you to go as far forward as 10 or 12 days or something like that. Hopefully just a limitation they put on the online booking and can be resolved via a phone call.
Know what you mean about speaking to cancellations cementing the feeling you are doing the right thing. They were pretty rude in their attempt to trick me into staying by their lies about other providers.
VM called me yesterday to offer a cheaper price and again today even though I told them I wasn't interested. So expect a call from them in 3 weeks or so.

This was the third price increase within 10 months. I had no intention of leaving Virgin until about 4 weeks ago when this latest increase was first mentioned. It's Virgin changing the contract, not me. Everyone has their limits. Sadly it became very clear over the past 6 months that Virgin could not, and might never match my expectations when it comes to TV content.
I was also spending way too much time in The Coming Soon thread hoping for some positive news, desperate for rumours and scraps of information. The below pretty much sums up my feels on the Coming Soon thread.

Re: TV price rises
Hi Chad, l wouldn't worry about any libel action from VM, l have told them loads of times what l think of there service. If you read my comment on coming soon' l have placed on there an article that l had a discussion with them, over those dreaded numbers that appear on the live sports.
I pay VM to watch live sports NOT to watch those damn numbers, and had a right go on there phone to the CEO's office
VM wouldn't know how to look after there customers, there PR is terrible, and keeping customers don't make me laugh, if l ran the company l would sack the lot of them and run it myself.

Arthur, there is a lot more to vm than tv, they have a huge business division for example, do you realise that 70% of mobile traffic runs on their network, probably not. I appreciate your annoyance but let's face facts, you could not run this business and the guys that do actually know what they are doing but not as you would like.

Re: TV price rises
If you are currently a Virgin customer, but used to be a customer of SKY, and are not happy with the recent price increases you might just be in luck.
As you know if you are in contract with Virgin you can cancel all of your services within 30 days of being notified of the increase. You can walk away without any penalty. I did it earlier this week, fairly straight forward.
According to various SKY forums SKY are offering SKY World TV subscriptions to ex customers for £24.12 per month. That's all channels, including SKY Sports and SKY Movies in HD and the 3D channel. 75% off for 12 months. The offer ends on 30/12/12. If interested you need to call 08442 411 194.
Here is more info:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sky-...-month-1411254
Looks like SKY might be trying to capitalise on recent price increases from Virgin.
At a time when everyone is looking to save money, and tighten the purse strings, SKY are putting offers out there that are hard to resist. Have Virgin ever offered 75% rebate for returning customers?

Re: TV price rises
Well Chad you actually you could turn it round and say that they are becoming somewhat desperate to try to entice new customers because as we stand Virgin's TV base has increased percentage wise more then Sky's and then on top of that we have the rip roaring success of the TiVo something which Sky cannot compete with at all.

Re: TV price rises
Great deal! They can probably offer it as they let the customer keep the equipment at the end so no install neccersary.
Virgin offered me a cheaper price but then explained they were going to lower the level of my services so it wasn't a deal after all.

Maybe they are or maybe they're trying to capitalise on ex customers, who have moved Virgin, who are currently unhappy with price increases and lack of new content.
You've got to admit though that it is a fantastic offer. It doesn't matter what slant we put on it, what they are offering for £24.12 per month for 12 months is great value. Do you agree?

Yes its excellent value but remember there is a harsh sting at the end of the twelve months as their contracts end as their bills rises exponentially.

What it highlights to me is that all TV providers are clearly overcharging for their content. I wonder how low SKY, and Virgin via retentions, could actually go?

True however after 12 months they will be free to move to another provider. What I've learned so far from Digital Spy and SKY User Forum is SKY will bend over backwards to keep you, if you don't try and take the ****. If you call SKY at the end of 12 months advising you can't afford the full price and want to leave, SKY won't keep your deal rebated at 75%, but might offer you 50% for 6 months with the remaining 6 months at full price.
Sky World (All channels inc Sports and Movies) Excluding HD is £13.87 a month on a 12 month contract. People have posted in this thread they've had around £13.00 per month worth of price increases from Virgin in the past 10 months alone. It's going to be interesting to see what offers SKY and Virgin are offering in the summer when BT step up. Should be a great time for consumers.

Yes def a great deal, although suspect Denphone is right re struggling for new customer numbers, they have had this problem all year, which is odd when they have kept Atlantic, formula 1 and other stuff exclusive to themselves. Maybe the number of people looking for multi channel TV has dried up?
However Sky are having a lot of success moving more of their existing customers onto triple play.

And in 12 months there free to shop around again , why would anyone be so loyal to any company
In 12 months there'll be deals from VM , BT , Talk Talk etc , I only ever look on my provider 12 months at a time as things can and so often do change over this period of time.
