I think Media Boy is saying that Viva's capacity on Freeview will be returned to Arqiva to resell and that Viva will use Channel 5 + 24's capacity.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3
looks like Sky have done the HD swap of the free to air HD channels for all customers with a sky HD box
BBC 1 HD is 101, BBC 2 HD 102 ect with the SD channels higher up the EPG can't be long till VM finally swap the channels round?

I think the agent is taking liberties with the truth there Dot. They aren't even halfway through their 3 year deal with VM so none of the CS agents (and maybe not even the management at this stage) will know what the future holds at the end of the current deal.
Plus there is no way either Sky or BT would allow their channels to be sold together as a package as they are rivals.

It can, and hopefully will, be. Just because Sky do it doesn't mean it's a good idea.

I think this is part of a software update to the platform that is being rolled out.
There are other things, including a rip-off of the TiVo Suggestions function.

If they could get away with it, I'm sure that Sky would want this. They could then say that all the games are available in the 'Sky Sports Selection'. Also, anyone not on XL TV wanting BT Sport would have to subscribe to Sky Sports in order to receive it.

Ahh, they talk nonsense, so it probably isn't true.

Are there any technical reason/s why you don't think that VM should follow Sky on this initiative (or is it just personal preference)?

Is it not a good idea, then, from your point of view? Why not?

I have had problems when the HD channels have gone down and the SD still worked so I would say it could be 50/50

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3
BBC 1 HD doesn't show regional programs currently, so after the main 6PM news I'd be stuck watching bikes go round and round on a red screen for half an hour

1) It's not currently implemented in VM software. There isn't any great technical difficulty in implementing it, but we're trying to avoid any software changes to the Liberate boxes. So we'd have an inconsistent user experience where some boxes have the swap and some don't.
2) How can you promote channels if you don't know what channel number to promote?
3) If users choose to swap, they have to learn a whole new set of numbers. For what benefit?
4) How can VM provide support if customers don't know which channel they are watching? You can guarantee one family member will swap the channels, confusing everybody else.
(And I'm ignoring the issues of local channels - I find it very hard to believe Sky are swapping these)
