Re: [Merged] - Football talk

i was referring to the fact that Lazio still owe money of the stam deal. When it was the other way round and Palace owed money to 2 italian clubs and we had money troubles the Italian clubs were going to go to FIFA to make sure they got their money or forced us out of business. We had to sell all our players at cut price deals just to pay the debt. The other clubs we owed money to were ok and gave us time.

Several Italian clubs are in the same boat as Lazio with no money nad not able to pay what they owe. I say treat them the same as what they did to Palace. If they go out of business like Fiorentina did then tough, will help my other team Man U and the other British clubs do better in Europe as well.

Gotcha......

As Man Utd are a PLC, I would have thought that they would press hard for the money that is owed, normally a PLC does not mess about with customers who owe money, having said that, it is £12 million, which I doubt anyone can afford to lose.

What about this for a team.

(BTW I'm using the code thing as it makes formatting the team easier, as it doesn't remove the spaces)

Code:
                  Howard

Neville Ferdinand Silvestre Heinze

Smith Keane Scholes Giggs

                Rooney

                         Van Nistelrooy

the problem we have at the moment is getting the ball from the midfield to the strikers. i've always seen Rooney as more of a link man \ creative player a la Paul Scholes. The trouble is I don't think Scholes is playing as well as he can at the moment. I'd play with Ruud and Smith and have Rooney behind 2 strikers to link the play. Link this

Code:
                  Howard

G. Neville Rio Silvetre Heinze

Ronaldo Keane Giggs

                Rooney

   Smith Nistelrooy

Re: [Merged] - Football talk

just read that Rooney will be on 50,000 a week which is the same as Phil Neville. Does that mean they are saying Phil is as good as Rooney

To all those who said we already had enough strikers just look at Real.. they had Raul, Ronaldo, Zidane and Morientes along with Portillo coming through from the youth system and Figo and Beckham who can score from midfield and they still signed Owen.

My team is here, I am not sure if SAF reads my posts here, but I might send him an invoice and see what happens

Re: [Merged] - Football talk

2 things are worryying me this morning.

1) I think too much pressue is being put onto Rooney. He may have had a great Euro 04 but he was never a regular starter for Everton. Now he is being talked about as the player that will win the league and European Cup for us.

2) I've never really been able to see what Erikkson does for England. he doesn't take the training sessions, he doesn't talk to the coaches who do afterwards. He basically only picks the team that is recommended in the Sun and seems to have no tactically knowledge whatsoever. Yet all the top players in England who work with decent managers at club level say he is vital and must stay.

On the subject of Rooney, let's not forget he is only 18.

No title this season for Man Utd. Rooney

I have to say, he's aged pretty quick.........28 ?

Old Traffordââ‚à ƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s £30mill ion new signing insists Alex Fergusonââ‚à ƒâ€šÃ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s side have plenty of ground to make up on Arsenal and Chelsea. Rooney, 28, said: †œWeÃƒÆ’Ã†â€™Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â¢ÃƒÆ ’¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€Å ¾Ã‚¢ve got some good young players at the club and providing we can all grow together in the team, I think weââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢ll eventually come good again.

Re: [Merged] - Football talk

well the England game was dire. I think it's about time we realised that having a keeper whose nickname is calamity isn't a good idea. I'd rather have Kirkland, Robinson or Green.

We still played the same football from start to finish and again Sven showed he doesn't have the tactical knowledge to change the play partway through a match. He has to go.

I agree, we need to bring back an english manager.

Disgraceful game... James, no comment. I think a 3-5-2 formation needs to be looked at. We've in abundance of center backs... unsure if Rio or Woodgate can play it tho... the should learn though.

Just on the radio;

'David James has admitted his mistake last night probably cost England 3 points'

Jeeez, Clever!

Former Republic of Ireland under-21 international Graham Stack has been arrested in connection with allegations of a sexual assault.

Arsenal goalkeeper Stack, currently on a season-long loan at Millwall, was held over an alleged attack on a woman in Beckenham, Kent, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Another man was also arrested. The two men, both 22-years-old, were released on bail, pending further inquiries, until October 22nd.

Stack, who has yet to win a senior Ireland cap despite forcing his way into the fringes of Brian Kerr's squad, played throughout Arsenal's run to the Carling Cup semi-finals last season.
And there goes hoping that this season we could concentrate on football rather than the off the field activities!
