Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Personally l think the last week of the transfer window is going to be its usual mayhem again and fingers crossed that we beat Spurs to a certain player as well.

At least (or I hope not) Arsenal haven't made the same mistake that Leeds made all those years ago, when they borrowed heavily against the promise of European football for at least the next 16 years.

not stretched. there is a safety net but to fall into that net for nothing is hard to take when all could have been avoided by investing with the money the club has. also although CL brings in a decent amount its not something the club has to have to survive.

Arsenal need a GK, CB/FB, DM, AM and a CF. if the kid can fill the AM position then thatll do. Arsenal should sign Thauvin to fill the LW/AM/RW positions. the CF position is something else. Arsenal should sign Rooney to fill that hole.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Arsenal need to remember this is Mike Ashley you have to please, regardless of Cabaye's worth he's not going to settle for anything less than double or even triple that.
Arsenal need to move on asap rather than risk the backlash of the fans after chasing a player for the next few weeks and end up not signing him.
On the other hand if Ashley does something completely unpredictable and accepts £12 million then he may have pushed Newcastle fans over that tipping point but not to worry it seems clear Cabaye won't be moving for anything less than £20 million. < Scratch that, they reckon Newcastle won't take anything less than £30 million now.
Another Andy Carroll like disaster on the cards. Ah no sorry, I was thinking of another team in red. Onto Cabaye, calling him proven is a bit off to be fair, all he's proven so far is he can have a good season or a terrible one, he's as inconsistent as they come and a bit of a pain to watch. Brilliant first season followed up by an awful second in which his passing, free kicks and general set pieces were way off his best. He's like Hatem Ben Arfa in comparison, one game on one game off.

Mike Ashley must be open to the offer. They're the ones who leaked the bid.

Of course he'll be open to a bid but not the sort of bid Arsenal will make for Cabaye.

you can laugh about that extra 1 pound, I'm not. its just as well Liverpool didnt accept it seeing as we'll need that pound coin to unchain the trolley for our annual trolley dash!

When did managers become such sensitive souls? We're going to bid for players and teams are going to receive bids for players. Welcome to football. Rodgers complained our bid lacked class but we were not the ones to leak it and believed there to be a release clause. Were Arsenal meant to throw a million away to avoid upsetting Rodgers? Pardew is upset we bid for one of his players? Say no deal and leave it at that. Why bother leaking it to the press and getting upset about it? If receiving a bid for your players is so traumatic then change profession.
In reality we didnt upset either, it's just posturing. They've all been in football long enough to know how it works and if Arsenal offer an acceptable bid they will accept and if not they won't. These facts won't change no matter no long Pardew and Roders cry into their pillows at the unfairness of it all.

I suppose the question is, is that a player you need?
I would have thought a striker is number 1 on shopping list.
