Re: More price rises

I phoned to cancel a short while ago as I am taking up the MSE offer, but got a recorded message saying they were busier than usual and we're unable to answer my call. It then said to call back after 8am tomorrow and disconnected me. Looks like there are a lot of disgruntled customers out there.

Re: More price rises

Just phoned to cancel and was told I still had 10 months of an 18 month contract. Currently paying £58 for 200mb, talk anytime and xl tv with movies. The best they can offer me is £84. I am disputing the fact I am in an 18 month contract because I specifically told the guy I only want 12 months I won't agree to 18 months when I recontracted around Christmas time. Been customer for quite a few years now. Seems a bit underhand. I have raised a dispute.

Re: More price rises

just tell em you got a letter in post that says the price is going up and virgin have broken the contract by the price rise tell them your entitled to leave the contract with 30 days notice and no penalty.

although if your paying £58 for 200mb, talk anytime and xl tv with movies you have a very good deal

Re: More price rises

I haven't had a price rise letter though. I haven't paid any of the inflation price rises in 7 years either. Just always rang up to say don't want to pay it and got that agreed.

Re: More price rises

Because I don't want to pay £84 a month when my deal ends in September. I've had a good run, always been offered a good deal when I've asked for one for the last 7 years. Last time I didn't even ask for the sky movies I was offered it. I guess my luck has run out.

Re: More price rises

Update. Managed to cancel no penalties now. Ordered sky for 28th September. Sky Q 2TB one extra mini box, sky cinema, anytime phone calls, voicemail and fibre unlimited £58 for 12 months. Now to get a 4K TV!

Re: More price rises

...what's the speed of the broadband on that package you were offered? Seems mightily tempting.

Only 35-40 meg estimated but hey some sacrifices must be made. The sky Q multi room worked out almost same price as the regular sky + HD multi room.

Re: More price rises

I called VM on Monday and told them to cancel everything as I'm now moving to Sky with the MSE deal!

I'm getting all this installed on the 17th Oct!

Box Sets with Sports & Cinema for 12 months = £29.40 (Saving £44.60)
HD basic for 12 months = £0.00 (Saving £6)
Sky Broadband Unlimited for 12 months = £0.00 (Saving £10)
Sky Talk Anytime Extra for 12 months = £0.00 (Saving £8)
Sky Talk Line Rental for 12 months = £11.31 (Saving £6.09)

I'm really happy with that!!

Re: More price rises

Glad you're happy but just FYI you are not on a fibre based package so if you are on top of your exchange you will get about 21Mb, otherwise it will drop off rapidly the further you are away.

May not be a problem but I noted you have XXL on VM. This will be quite a comedown.

Thanks for sharing the deal by the way. I can see why VM aren't bothering with trying to match this. Ludicrous pricing to win custom.

I can see why they can't get near the current sky offers but, I'm my experience, they're not even trying to offer anything. The best I was offered was £84 a month for 200mb, talk more anytime and full house tv, which is too much for my wallet. I was willing to keep paying same price even after dropping sky cinema, but this wasn't an option. I guess they rely on people's reluctance to spend a few hours over a few days sorting things out.

The broadband speed doesn't really bother me, For what I do on my laptop I can do on my phone. (Facebook, Twitter, Emails etc) And I'm in a good 4G area on O2.

If it's that bad I can always upgrade to fibre. I'll just have to wait and see.

Re: More price rises

I've just had the letter come through yesterday for the price increase which at the end of my deal in OCT will put my price up to £100.50

She's going to call them next week to try and get a deal as not fussed about the 200mb BB or the sky crap movies that repeat crap day in day out.

Happy to drop to 50mb if needed and L tv

I'm wanting at least the 50mb BB if I were to stay with just BB and get sky for tv as want the kids tv for nick JR and nick jr 2 for daughter what deal do you think would be best for me with sky/vm mix?

If you're not fussed about the speed I'd suggest to move the whole lot to sky right now. Plus they're doing only 12 months contract on most combinations, I see virgin have gone back to 18 months.
