Re: President Obama reelected to a second term
Wasn't it the same Donald Trump who got trumped when he attempted to call Obama's bluff that he wasn't born an American Citizen?

Just wanted to say well done Obama. Right man got the job. (Back).
Been to America twice now and would have definately not gone for at least eight years with Romney running the show.

Re: President Obama reelected to a second term
I stayed up until about half four in the morning, at which point all the news channels were calling it for Obama... yet the Romney campaign hadn't conceded because of the closeness of Ohio. I was quite worried I'd get up today to find that the final count from Ohio went the other way and that that plus a belated result from Florida would give it to Romney. Very bloody relieved when I saw everything still said Obama won!

Re: President Obama reelected to a second term
Thank Goodness for the result. Well deserved.
However, it terrifies me that so many Americans voted for Romney.
I'm not a terrific fan of Obama, but without question he's the lesser of two evils. I'd have hoped that in the 21st century, everyone could see that.

Re: President Obama reelected to a second term
In case anyone thinks this was but a minor issue: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-1...alth-care.html
This is now what American's have voted for:
Quote:
If Obama is re-elected, Americans who lose their jobs needn’t fear that their families will lose their health insurance. Discrimination based on pre-existing conditions will be a thing of the past and every state will have a health insurance exchange where insurers compete for business and where regulators can expel shoddy health plans. Medicare will transition from its fee-for-service model toward a system of value-based payments in which providers are compensated for maintaining healthy patients. Expensive employer-based health plans will be slapped with a hefty tax beginning in 2018.
If Obama is re-elected, in other words, we will see the first iteration of a uniquely American universal health-care system. If history is any guide, it will become effectively permanent soon after it is introduced. The reforms will be reformed, of course, as experience teaches us what works (and what doesn’t) and as future politicians put their stamps on the system. But the basic guarantee -- that the state will provide health insurance or subsidies to purchase it for those in need - - will likely prove immutable.
|
Not to mention American's have reelected a black President in a time of a poor economy, that itself shows an impressive display of diversity. It would have been a concern if the first minority President was a failure, that will now not be the case. Obama will be a two term President and one who introduced the biggest change since Social Security.

Romney scared me.
trillions of tax cuts, which likely would have led to policies spilling over to here as well making us follow suit even worse than the cuts now.
increases of militiary budgets.
cuts to public programs, although I dont know which because much of the debates were focused on foreign policy.

Re: President Obama reelected to a second term
What is really sad is that most of todays newspaper have said that Obama won due to his race.
And they even went as low as finding hout what percentages he won by, And then some have said they wouldn't vote for Romney due to his faith. Just enought to make you sick.
I am glad that Obama won, he has shown that he is a worthy President.

A big reason is down to the changing demographic of the USA.
If the USA had still had the same demographic as it did in the 80's them Romney would have won.
The Republicans have failed to win the Black and hipspanic vote and they are a sector of the population that is growing in the US, whereas middleclass white America is shrinking, comparatively

I think you're misinterpreting the point. He won because he managed to build a support base in which minority voters (african americans, asians and Latinos) and woman supported him overwhelmingly. The Democratic Party, or just Obama, appealed to minorities in the way the Republicans didn't. The Republicans pretty much intentionally ignored these groups thinking they could win an election by appealing to white men, hence the absurd comments about rape and abortion as well as their harsh rhetoric on immigration.
This was a question of the Democrats appealing to minorities not Obama being black (Latinos, for one, have no real reason to have such a racial preference there).
