Yes its the biggest crowd they have ever had but apparently the play-offs will be played in front of 12,000 people at The O2 in London.

Phil Taylor completed a weekend double by winning Sunday's UK Open Qualifier and then decidated his triumph to the late Jocky Wilson.

Taylor beat Dennis Smith 6-3 in the final in Barnsley, the day after two-time world champion Wilson died.

The victor, who also won Saturday's equivalent event, said: "That's for Jocky.

"He was my pairs partner for many years and I loved him to bits. We used to have a lot to do with each other, I'm gutted.

"I've got a lot of good memories about Jocky and he's one of those people that when you mention his name it brings a big smile to your face.

"He was a great character and I'm going to miss him. I missed him anyway but I'm going to celebrate Jocky's life."

On his latest win, one which continues a fine run of form, Taylor added: "The main objective for me was to come here and qualify for (the finals in) Bolton, and I've done that

Phil Taylor extended his lead at the top of McCoy's Premier League to seven points after recording a seventh successive victory at the expense of Kevin Painter in Cardiff.

'The Power' was in ruthless touch yet again at the Motorpoint Arena, easing past Painter 8-2 and then seeing his lead remain at seven points after nearest challenger Raymond van Barneveld was on the wrong end of the same scoreline against Adrian Lewis.

The win capped a mixed evening for world champion Lewis, who, due to the death of Gary Anderson's father, played two matches on Thursday night.


Lewis kicked off the evening with an 8-4 reverse at the hands of Andy Hamilton - 'The Hammer's' first victory since the opening night - but was back to his best against Van Barneveld.

Elsewhere in the Welsh capital, James Wade produced the performance of the night to register a stunning 8-0 triumph over an out-of-sorts Simon Whitlock.

The evening started with a repeat of this year's world championship final, with Hamilton getting a portion of revenge over Stoke rival Lewis with a highly-impressive 8-4 win.

Some brilliant darts by Taylor and Wade but the highlight of the evening was all the players coming out on stage to pay tribute to the late great Jocky Wilson.

Phil Taylor maintained his unbeaten record in week 10 of the Premier League season in Sheffield - but reigning champion Gary Anderson's hopes of defending his crown are now hanging by a thread.

Taylor continued his winning run against Raymond van Barneveld in the third match on stage at the packed-out Motorpoint Arena, though he did not have it all his own way against his old rival

While table-topping Taylor is already certain to be at the O2 Arena, reigning champion Anderson is in danger of not even making it through to the semi-finals after taking just one point from his two outings in Yorkshire.

The Scotsman lost his opener 8-3 to James Wade but looked set to bounce back when he reeled off five legs on the spin to storm into a 7-4 lead over Andy Hamilton.

Yet with victory in his sights Anderson suddenly lost his way, allowing his rival to come roaring back and snatch a draw that leaves both men on seven points in the table, three back of that all-important fourth place.

The other match saw Simon Whitlock continue his resurgence in the competition with an 8-5 triumph over Kevin Painter - a result that means the Wizard now sits second in the table.

Adrian Lewis gave his Premier League play-off hopes a huge shot in the arm as he became the first man to beat Phil Taylor in this year's competition with a superb 8-5 victory at the Bournemouth International Centre.

Well the great man is human after all.

Earlier Simon Whitlock had got the 11th round of matches up and running and took a decisive step towards securing a play-off spot as he beat Raymond Van Barneveld 8-4.

The Wizard strengthened his grip on second place in the standings with a convincing victory over the five-time world champion.

Kevin Painter moved off the bottom of the table as he beat defending champion Gary Anderson, also by an 8-4 scoreline, to claim his first success in five weeks.

James Wade remains in third spot in the standings after an entertaining 7-7 draw with Andy Hamilton.

Well obviously Phil Taylor is through to the play offs but there is still a fair fight for the other 3 places with three more matches to go in the Premier League group section.

Raymond van Barneveld battled back from 4-1 down to grab a draw with Andy Hamilton as the pair shared the points in a McCoy's Premier League Darts thriller in Liverpool.

Hamilton continued his battle for a play-off place in his first Premier League season by taking a 3-0 lead against the Dutchman, and he also led 4-1 before van Barneveld hit back to share the spoils.

It was one of three draws on the night as defending champion Gary Anderson lost his grip on the trophy as a 7-7 draw with Adrian Lewis in Liverpool ensured he could not make it into the 2012 play-offs.

Phil Taylor is a whopping seven points out in front after his tenth win out of 12, but behind him six players can still mathematically fill the three remaining play-off spots, with only reigning champion Anderson definitely ruled out after his draw with Lewis

Kevin Painter was kicking himself after letting a 4-1 and 7-4 lead over James Wade disappear as the world number three hit back to salvage a 7-7 draw and leave Painter three points behind him in the table.

Simon Whitlock knocked Adrian Lewis out of the McCoy's Premier League with a thrilling comeback from 5-2 down to win 8-6 and end the world champion's hopes of claiming a play-off place.

Lewis had to secure victory to be assured of keeping alive his hopes of going one better than last year in this competition but slipped to defeat against the clinical Australian.

Phil Taylor withstood a spirited fightback from Simon Whitlock before wrapping up a 10-7 victory in the final of the McCoys Premier League Darts at the O2 Arena in London.

The 'Power' led 5-1 and 7-2 against the 'Wizard' in the best-of-19 final and looked to be cruising to a sixth Premier League title.
