Had the name 'Ronaldo' been mentioned to anyone (including yourself) pre-2003 and it would have been assumed the buck-toothed Brazillian was the subject.
'Comparable' in terms of before coming to the Premiership, both were virtual unknowns but vastly improved their game as a result.

Henry had played and scored in a World cup, so he was hardly unknown, he'd failed badly in Italy, that was the problem, it's also interesting that both were bought to replace key players and I'd agree, the Premier league has been good for them and they for it

Re: Close Season Gossip & Rumour Thread
i don't think Henry was a complete unknown as he and Wenger had both worked together at Monaco and also in the French youth setup at ClairFontaine the same place where he also worked with Viera so both players he already knew all about and their potential

Has nffc gone to Glastonbury? Just watching the Manics on BBC HD channel 108 and someone is waving a large Forest flag right in the middle of the crowd at the front.

Already,........ however, The failed club's McCain stadium is to be sold for development, to pay off the Inland revenue no doubt?
So it seems that they will begin at the bottom of the pile at the Northern Counties East League and share a ground with Bridlington Town.
At least they exist

Re: Close Season Gossip & Rumour Thread
Can someone please tell me why Uefa seem to think qualification for the next world cup has to be changed ? And why they think this new system is better ? My tiny brain is having a hard time comprehending this.

Fewer games. The Winners of a group will now only play 8 or 10 games whereas before they would play 12 or 14.

I understand that part, but........

They will be determined after the bottom team in the eight larger groups is erased and the points recalculated

The runner up with the least points will miss out on the playoffs. As there is a group of five teams the runner up in this goup would probably miss the playoffs having played fewer games. So to make it fair when calculating who misses out they remove the points gained against the bottom team in each of the groups with 6 teams.

It's a possible scenario then that a team who finishes third, could claim a playoff spot over a team finishing 2nd, after the re-calculation ? This sounds like it could get complicated.

No, Its only the 9 runners up who have a chance. The one with the worst record misses out.

I know that part, but there could still be a case where the team finishing in 3rd could claim a play off place, over the team finishing 2nd in a group, because of the re-calculation. Which does seem unfair, but uefa do like to tweak things I suppose.
