In LGI's eyes.
 | Having a great broadband network isn't worth zilch if say Netflix has a major outage, err like it did overnight (prime time in North America) |

Netflix is just one of many content providers. The value of a good broadband network is not altered but the value of Netflix's shares might be!

I suspect that most cord cutters have more than one streaming service, so in the case of the above event, they would switch to another one.

In fact, for cord cutters, who depend heavily on streaming, a good, reliable service is essential. That is why I would be extremely reluctant to have to move away from VM for internet.

 | Spot on. It's a bit like saying to someone with Freeview that their aerial is useless if Channel 5's transmitter breaks down.

 | This is true although i have netflix and xfinity i do have direct tv, verizon and dish as backups total cost for all those services for me is £23p/m but i'm vey fortunate i think as i have a few friends in USA who have various services.

 | That's the exact reason I wouldn't move to them , I've been with numerous ISP's over the years and VM are easily the worst I've ever had. I'm sure thats just an area issue where I live but we suffered from regular outages , oversubscription , poor equipment the list goes on.

When it was working it was great sadly it soon went downhill.

 | Sorry to hear that MM, my BB with Virgin is excellent and very stable, and this is one of the reasons why I'm reluctant to leave.

It was probably so popular it became oversubscribed because at the time BT Infinity was a distant dream meaning people only had the choice of ADSL or cable.

They were so slow at fixing oversubscription I ended up leaving and have never been back since purely because I'm wary of the same happening. For the record I have family members who have perfect BB services with them.

I'm with plusnet and apart from one major outage a couple of months ago i've had no trouble at all.
