Well that is probably because the smaller firm are being charged a smaller price..............
|
Those moaners got people a refund on their TIVO purchase after VM dropped the price , they have also got VM promising to concentrate on EPG errors.

But it is constant denphone. It is not one thing or two it is twenty-two month in month out. I agree totally people have the right to moan but it is not as bad a service as many make out.

l have never made it out to be a bad service as l am verry happy with a large part of Virgins service (Broadband/Phone and Tivo) but l believe that Virgin has stagnated on its TV service as we seem to have to wait a eternity for any new channels and their usual predictable and vague reply is we are still in talks but they have been saying that for years and people are fed up with the constant inactivety on this front and if they don't watch it their loss of 36,000 TV customers in their last quarter will become a avalanche.

They may have stagnated on the TV service or be trying to get the best for their customers. We all wait for thing as we all know in this country as we queue all the time for things
In regards to the 36,000 customers that they said were students, With the amount of them there were that is a drop in the ocean?

Overall, some 481,854 students were given places to start in September, an increase of 5.5% on the year before, according to today's official figures from the university admissions service,

You seem to think the average person is obsessed with HD. They aren't. Many think they're getting HD anyway, just because they have an 'HD TV'. So they aren't worried about lack of HD channels, because they think they already have them!
But yet again, without proof, you seem to infer that the 36000 loss is due to lack of HD. Do you have access to VM's internal monitoring statistics?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2011) Vol. III.
Well we will see in the next 2 quarters whether these were students that left the TV service or Virgin just giving us a weak excuse for the loss of 36,000 customers.

21,200 TV customers in the last quarter. The losses were down to the end of student contracts, many of whom will return in September, and not chasing 'low rent' single or dual play customers. The TV loses were attributed to a fall in analogue cable and those with free TV M while digital pay tv subs (M+ upwards) all enjoyed growth.
Perhaps it's just me, but i don't think many with analogue cable or Free TV M are holding out for a smorgasbord of channels.

Well l would say with Sky having sold 3,5 million HD boxes plus Virgin selling 1,5 million boxes plus Freeview HD boxes l think that tells you a story and that is many people want their channels to be on HD and want to watch them.
And on the 36,000 TV customer losses l suspect that their failure to add HD channels in the last 9 months has contributed significantly to these figures and l see you have no plausible answer so far.

Facts are our friends - there were 36k net cable disconnections (which include either TV and/or broadband).....
VM Q2 results 2011
Page 1
Quote:
Net cable disconnections of 36,000 in Q2
90% of net disconnections were lower-value single or dual-play customers ARPU of churning customers 16% lower than the average customer
|
If you look on page 18, you will find that VM have lost 21,000 TV customers in the last quarter, but are up 16,000 on the last year. And if you look on page 19, you will see that ARPU per customer is up and revenue is up by £16 million, showing that they (mainly) churned low-revenue/profit customers, which is good business.
From page 1
Quote:
Value and mix of customer base continues to improve
Half of new broadband customers taking 30Mb tier or higher, compared to 18% a year ago
taking 20Mb or above
Increased triple-play and quad-play penetration to 63.8% and 12.6% respectively
Continued growth in cable ARPU, up 3.2% to £47.35
|
Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity - it's pointless keeping customers who you don't make profit from; Capitalism 101....
