You have not been involved in many negotiations, have you, Arthur?
If VM tell their customers what they are trying to do, and it leaks to the other side of the negotiating table, sort of weakens VM's bargaining position, don't you think?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Wouldn't the EPG be updated before that and it would just be a matter of someone throwing the ON switch on Saturday ?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
I think that any new contracts for HD channels are more likely to have a start date of Aug 1 2009 than Aug 5 2009, regardless of what day of the week it falls upon.

So it might not be in Sky's News and Events pack for long.

I asked last and was told it would be in the news and events mix permanent it even states it on espns website.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
BBC Breakfast said this morning that Ofcom is to announce that it will "force" Sky to sell its premium content (including HD) at wholesale rates as part of its review into the pay tv industry. More news to come, hopefully "soon"....

I believe Setanta got around £2 per month per customer.

Ofcom believes that requiring Sky to make its premium channels available to other retailers on a wholesale basis is the most appropriate way of ensuring fair and effective competition. It is therefore also consulting on proposals to put in place a wholesale must-offer obligation, containing a range of regulated prices.
Ofcom believes that this remedy will enable other TV broadcasters to access and offer these premium channels, thereby promoting choice and innovation. We do not believe that this proposed remedy would have a disproportionate impact on Sky, since we consider the proposed prices are above the level required to allow Sky a reasonable return on its content costs.
We believe that Sky’s wholesale revenues would increase under the proposed remedy, due to its channels becoming more widely available.

Well done Ofcom.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Maybe the only chance of OFCOM's ruling have any teeth is under a Government that's pretty much resigned to losing the next election...
Watch Sky try every trick in the book to try and delay any requirement to hand things over at a reasonable price...

Simple set a date and then fine them a few million for every day they exceed it.
