Did you reboot it for the first time today? I mean, has anyone any idea if they are upgrading areas over the weekend?

M23 on an NTL:250.
My connection went off at 1pm yesterday for 24 hours. Modem wouldn't sync & when the connection finally came back the modem logs are filled with:
" TFTP failed - configuration file NOT FOUND"
Whatever that means.
Still no 4Mb/s, btw.

Re: [Merged] Speed Increases 1st June - 2meg to 4meg
I was upgraded a couple of days ago and my cable modem page says 4096000 bps for download as it should do.
However, I have run the speed test at least 20 times and it ALWAYS comes up at 2.74-2.76Mbps never slower and never faster.
I have tried it at 3am, 10am, 12pm, 3pm, 8pm etc and its ALWAYS the same.
I know that I should only get UP TO 4mb but there seems to be some form of cap here - is it my ntl:home 120 modem?
example:
Sat, 24 Jun 2006 12:39:54 UTC
1st 512K took 1453 ms = 352.4 KB/sec, approx 2904 Kbps, 2.84 Mbps
2nd 512K took 1515 ms = 338 KB/sec, approx 2785 Kbps, 2.72 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1516 ms = 337.7 KB/sec, approx 2783 Kbps, 2.72 Mbps
4th 512K took 1516 ms = 337.7 KB/sec, approx 2783 Kbps, 2.72 Mbps
Overall Average Speed = approx 2814 Kbps, 2.75 Mbps
Thanks
Ben

try downloading a file from a source like Microsoft or something with a good fast download speed (like NTL's newsgroups for example). That will show you what kind of speed you are getting. The speed test isn't always accurate.

Good afternoon boys and girls.
I would just like to say that NTL Broadband service is an absolute pile of stale horse S*ite.
Right - I'll get my coat....

Same situation here in Notts, 120 modem, averaging 2.7 Mbps.... but I'm using a router & the other PC gets 3.2Mbps.
I downloaded a 500 MB file via gameshell & it was stable at around 2.7Mbps.
I'll try a direct connection without the router soon as I can.

Seems like ntl have completely forgotten about the regions served by the Cosham proxies!

Since the upgrade, browsing has been utter rubbish. I need to alter my proxies now! Definitely 4mb though in Bromley area.

On the NTL cable modem service, the possible in-service IP address ranges are: - 62.252.xxx.xxx to 62.255.xxx.xxx.
- 80.0.xxx.xxx to 80.7.xxx.xxx.
- 81.96.xxx.xxx to 81.111.xxx.xxx.
- 82.0.xxx.xxx to 82.31.xxx.xxx.
- 213.104.xxx.xxx to 213.107.xxx.xxx
So perfectly okay
