Isnt this when the new BT Sports Champions League coverage kicks off too?
Hope VM can agree on a deal.
A new, improved Tivo..new box or upgrade?
Would a new box mean an activiation fee, a higher monthly cost for possible bigger hdd and more tuners?

Ah so we will get 1 yr of BT Sport's Champions League. That's good to know. Maybe VM will use that year to judge viewing figures/revenue to decide whether it's worth a new deal with BT....It has to be lol
Like I said before, VM will want to promote their service as being the only provider where you can see all Premier League and Champions League games in one subcription...works me for

The new HD channels will indeed be in the XL pack, vm are making XL their variant of Skys family pack but vm for now include bt sport too.
Some channels will be moving from xl to l package according to rumour sources most noticeably was Disney channels.
However HD variants will be remaining in the XL pack.

If all else fails just get a bt mobile sim for £10p/m if you know someone on bt get them to get it for you then it's £5p/m then you get the bt sport app for free.
Only the app though not the channel or webplayer however the app works on firetv and andys android emulator which you can install on your pc/laptop.

Wouldn't people rather pay £12-15 p/m to get the channels and in HD rather that having to watch it on a smaller screen with fuzzy picture for £10 p/m?

The app is crystal clear in HD on firetv mate piece of cake to side load it.
I do agree though for most it would probably be a better option to just subscribe anyway but the app is perfect for me as i took bt mobile anyway mostly to build my credit score if that makes sense lol.

Considering TiVo can't display 4k not sure how that's relevant. Netflix says that 5Mbit is fine for their top standard HD content, so that's half of the connection provided to each TiVo box.

VM must be looking towards 4K and planning an upgrade or new Tivo box?

The Netflix top bitrate for 1080p is 5800 kbps. So 5meg won't give you that. it will still give 1080p video, but I think that bitrate is 4300kbps.
To ensure the 5800kbps video stream, plus a little bit for audio and a bit of headroom, most people suggest 7meg. This is still within Tivo's 10 meg speed.
I seem to remember reading that the Tivo was capable of 20meg but had been capped at 10, and if necessary, the 20 meg speed could be activated. Is that not the case?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)
I really dont see the need for speeds of 200mb but I am just a layman user. 50mb more than sufficent for me. With regards to a new Tivo possibly coming soon that would be of interest I know Humax are about to launch a 3 tuner Freeview box so I would think Virgin would want to stay ahead of freeview on the tuners front.
I hope we do get quite a few more channels in HD soon and Spike, Encore

Fair enough, although there is no mention of the 5800kps speed on Netflix's website

Agreed the average punter has little to no interest in speeds anywhere near that , still it keeps VM's marketing department busy.

If you have access to US Netflix, play 'Example short 23.976'. This has a bitrate overlay which changes as the stream quality improves. It shows two 1080p streams; one at 4300kbps and the other at 5800kbps.
