Umm from feedback of people I know, this may surprise you but I actually know more telewest users then NTL. So the numbers are in NTL's favour in my case, but still not one of the telewest people are unhappy with their service.
2 public survey's back it up as well.
Finally a few facts speak for themselves.
NO transperent proxies.
NO india call centre.
NO caps. (this may turn sour on 10mbit tho)
Prices are higher but it seems that isnt everyone's main concern. It defenitly isnt mine.

Why would it surprise me?

Have you chosen to ignore some of the complaints in the Telewest sections of this forum then?

Surveys of a couple of thousand people. ntl have a couple of million customers. Hardly fair coverage. Still, if you form your opinions by sponsored surveys, that's your prerogative.

Facts - yes. Problems/issues to customers? Maybe, maybe not. But it's not your call to say whether they do or not really, is it?

As I've said, you may not appreciate the above 'facts' - other people are not bothered by caps, indian call centres etc.

Re: [Merged] NTL & Telewest Merger
I read the telewest forum, I dont reply to them since I dont use the service myself at home, but if you want to tally them up I think we both know which will have the higher count. I acknowledge telewest have their own problems, but I think you wont acknowledge ntl have a worser repuatation, a higher % of dissatisifed customers, and worse management who cant get their finances in the black.

Re: [Merged] NTL & Telewest Merger
Here's a pretty entertaining fact for those who are interested in the finances of both ntl and Telewest and the idea that the larger company is going to be taking over:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=NTLI:US
Market Cap (Millions)5,276.723
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=TLWT:US
Market Cap (Millions)5,291.477
Yup after posting profits, etc Telewest have been steadily climbing to the point where they are now worth more than ntl on the NASDAQ.
Not bad for a company with a network, etc, less than 2/3rds the size.

How much of that is through speculative buying of Telewest shares though? When the merger happens regardless of who owns the final company or what it ends up being called, anyone with a few thousand Telewest shares is going to make a $ or two, a merger/buy out price is always higher than the market value.

Re: [Merged] NTL & Telewest Merger
Oh some of it for sure, the graphs tell their own stories.
Although weren't the rumours on websites about a valuation of $26 a share on the buyout?
Hope for you chaps sake this doesn't turn into another CWC run.

I can't remember mate, but for the merger to be a success then a lot of the minor shareholders have got to sell up and they arn't gonna do that unless they stand to make a few bob

I wouldnt have thought so, the biggest thing with coco was that they actually had procedures restricting their engineers originality ntl didnt, we were still trusting our guys to know how to do their jobs without having to be spoon fed. These days things have changed and much of the independence and originality of the few engineers left has been crushed out of them

Doh, really? Do you reckon there mhgt be more ntl complaints on here because a) the site originated form an ntl hell site and b) the telewest threads never get to the front page of the site and c) not that many telewest custiners know that the forum exists?

ntl has more customers, so they're going to get more dissatified customers. Basic maths.
Telewest had to restructure too ya know.... They're debt wasn't as big as ntls for sure, but then they are a smaller company anyway. ntl may not be in the back yet, butb they're sure heading the right way.

Re: [Merged] NTL & Telewest Merger
I am not talking total in a number but as a %, NTL has a higher % of customers dissatisfied, in both survey's and my real life experience that is enough to convince me.
