If anyone with any influence is reading this then lets get this 'feature' changed. I would much rather it stopped recording when full than to delete old shows that may not be on again for some time.
I don't know, VM do shoot themselves in the foot sometimes

You were lucky. If it had needed the space for its own use, something would have been deleted.

I agree, but it's not going to happen. Relabelling the tin would be a start

Sadly not. I got TiVo to fix the problem where it deleted too much, but they are adamant it is now operating as designed, and won't be changed.

....good job its moving to the Horizon platform in the future then.
Keep should mean keep, but then the Americans never did speak English properly.

I think it did this before the update too.

IIRC. the Tivo Series 1 used to do that buy default, and I was suprised when the VM Tivo didn't.
It was certainly handy if you did a lot of recording, as it would often record the episode from a +1 channel if you were recording something else when the episode was shown.

No it was always a single channel. From the series 1 manual "A series pass records every episode of the series that airs on the selected channel". If you wanted every channel you could use a wishlist. I remember one time getting home to find the F1 had been moved to BBC2 and being delighted that Tivo had recorded it as a suggestion, which I could then use to create a 2nd series link for the future. Sadly that would never happen since VM changed the suggestions algorithm. Of course we did not have an many channels back then.
I see there are lots of reports of the new update being even slower than it already was. I wonder if that is caused by all channel series links with it processing hundreds of channels in the background every few hours. I bet many of us have old series links that will result in "all channel" links unnecessarily as well as cases where we genuinely want to record from 2 channels without hundreds more.
On the subject of deleting programs, which someone said is fixed, is that in the current update? The usual problem is where Tivo is nowhere near full but clears Tivo down to something like 60% full apparently to make room for future recordings. Is that officially a bug or by design and has it been changed?

There have been two bugs like this. One is fixed in the current release. The other is fixed in the new software, but you are unlikely see it even if you don't have the new software because a workaround is in place

The updates for Tivo always take alot of time to write as we all know. I'm aware that the software is a UK version of the US version, so has Spotify been removed from US Tivo? I can't seem to find anything about that.
I just can't believe Spotify or Virgin would let this happen, regardless of how many people use the app. there was plenty of time to sort something out. Spotify don't seem to have a problem creating apps for other services.
So much was made of Spotify launching on Tivo too. I does seem like a major step backwards. Prices go up and services keep getting removed, Music OnDemand, VM Cloud app, things I used as a customer.
I know a company can't please everyone, but they have now lost my custom as a TV customer after 18 years. I'm another 'number' to add to the list of people ditching the TV side of VirginMedia.

Vevo is an awful app, terrible replacement for Music OnDemand

The new box may incorporate airplay like Sky did with Q , I use my Spotify by sending playlists from my ipad it's much easier and faster than trawling menus on the TV.

Re: Major TiVo update started about 3:20am.
Just received three more updates, it's rebooted and now says that it's installing software and that the power must not be turned off.
What will this do?

They fix bugs that were found in earlier versions. Hopefully today's version is the final update for the initial pilot regions.

Well so far after this mornings update the Tivo has actually speeded up, it's like a band new box :-)
Just wander how long before a new update to break it again lol

It will just because as part of the update it reboots the box.
Give it a week without rebooting and you will be back to your trusty clunky box again.
