What exactly does this mean? Surely you will have a new thread round about that time anyway, as another new year will be on the horizon, also what do you mean by "circumstances beyond our control"?

To be fair, there are very few TV shows that I want to add as a permanent fixture to my library; My DVD purchases have dropped drastically since Netflix launched in early 2012. Still, for the odd few that I do buy, I still think the 'to own' digital streaming prices are too high, and should decrease over time.
I have a feeling that at one time, the prices were set by the content rights holder for digital downloads, and they are the same price across all vendors. That is not the case with physical DVDs. I'm not sure if that was the case, and if it was, does it apply now?

That would be illegal; since 1964 retailers are free to sell at a price they see fit.

No new streams in my area yet, still on the 48 and its been that way since the last upgrade just before the London Olympics in 2012. But if these upgrades are nationwide, then yes, that is a very significant upgrade.

Do you know what the further 10 streams would equate to in terms of the number of channels, or apps, Horizon?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
Several new HD channels can be fitted onto one stream if using the newer compression method, but I'm guessing most of this will be used for the broadband speed upgrades.
---------- Post added at 08:08 ---------- Previous post was at 08:01 ----------
According to my records the last upgrade to 48 transport streams was not in 2012 as I stated earlier but in July 2010. So, if this upgrade is true, it will be the first major new network capacity boost in nearly six years.
In terms of channels:
Up to July 2010 there was 36 transport streams carrying 316 services (mostly tv channels) in my area. There has only been 2 upload channels/streams for as long as I can remember.
In July 2010 the network was upgraded to 48 transport streams carrying 342 services at that time.
By the time of the LOndon Olympics in 2012, the number of services increased to 406 and in March 2015 the number of services increased to 455.
Today, the number of services on my standard box is 439 in my area (East London). The number of services can vary between area and stb used.
As well as tv channels, services can include VOD (video on demand) streams, EPG data etc.
Of the 48 transport streams in my area, 8 of them are for downloads and 2 are for uploads, according to my router.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
.... this is capacity VM have added for more broadband upgrades and/or channel additions.
THe software would only use a fraction of one stream.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2
Virgin Media have said that they will be putting more effort into the TV side of things this year, but although there are still some gaps in our channel selection, I think the concentration will be on VOD rather than TV channels. However, I think VM viewers would prefer a mixture of the two in some abundance this year!

I totally Agree it's nice to have a mixture and on the old TiVo tv channels are better than VOD

People are speculating on this but so what?
Media Boy brings us information but how it's brought doesn't really matter does it?
This thread we are in now could run forever as long as the information in it is changing. Ultimately it's just a thread title or am I missing something???

I think he may be saying that there won't be anything new of note coming this year, that is how I interpreted it.
