I may have mis-quoted my own number on TCP throughput though. I managed 106mps TCP on 1x1 (non-MIMO) @150 rate and 137mbps TCP on 2x1 @300 rate, but was limited by CPU on one device. Extrapolating from my other scaling tests, 250mbps UDP and 210mbps TCP should be possible with better equipment and drivers. I saw a big drop in efficiency in the 2x2, 40Mhz configuration but this was seemingly the driver/CPU limitation as neither 2x2 or 40Mhz on it's own showed any drop in efficiency at all.
Mind you, 3x3 client cards are quite widely available and 3x3 APs/routers are just coming into the consumer space now, I'd be curious to see how they perform but early reports suggest they're even more CPU limited.
Got a reference to those IEEE tests? I'm surprised mine are so different, considering.

Hehe, I have no qualms about being an uber geek, it earns me a living and it's something I enjoy. With all due respect, it's to be expected managers and directors know less about the nitty gritty technical stuff than techs do The boss of IT support at my work still pays me to fix his computer.

Re: Finally arrives here !
Hmm, so they have a Cisco 3502i putting out over 190mbps with 2x2 MIMO. Nice. But the Meraki 3x3 is barely doing 25% more, not so nice. I've become rather adverse to "enterprise" WAPs lately though, mainly because we're at the mercy of whatever Cisco decide to provide in terms of firmware and support, whereas with my consumer gear if I don't like the firmware I can change it or even re-write it myself.
In any case given my mid-range consumer gear on stock settings can push over 80mbps through three walls, I contend 100mbps+ on wireless is pretty easy.

Re: Finally arrives here !
Exactly. I'm using this thing and in combination with the DIR-615 I can often get 11.5MB/s when doing LAN transfers which translates to a respectable 92Mbps. I believe even this modest 2.4GHz 1x1 MIMO Mini PCI could manage more but of course it's being limited by the non-GbE ports of the DIR-615.
(Wait... maybe that should be 1x1 SISO. I always assumed wireless N was MIMO even with only one antenna each for Tx/Rx)

Totally agree - if the managers do your job, they ain't doing their own...

Re: Finally arrives here !
Makes sense that 5GHz is much better performing that 2.4GHz.
I'll have a mooch for a publically viewable link to IEEE testing.
I clearly fail as an engineer - that or I just like tech that works and can't be bothered with tinkering for performance.

Re: Finally arrives here !
Well there's that too. I'm in a fairly uncongested area and even then still get 20-40% less throughput on 2.4G. Still, that's on un-tweaked consumer gear.
I'm curious what they used in the IEEE lab tests though, as the Cisco 1142's we have at work actually perform considerably slower than my D-Link consumer router at home. I suppose enterprise kit is tuned more for reliability, but they haven't proven to be particularly reliable either

How to do it on superhub 5GHz wireless wi-fi ? Can you explain how to set it up ? Because I cannot get any wifi if using 5GHz but work ok with 2.4GHz !

Re: Finally arrives here !
Your wireless will only use the 5ghz range if it's 'n' so if it does not work it's because your wireless card is not 'n' but probably 'g'

I wouldn't recommend doing that on CF..

[QUOTE=Ignitionnet;35195831]Thanks for proving my point about the test [COLOR="Silver"]
I changed mine to 5Ghz on Friday night to see if it could resolve the problem with my brother's netbook.
Figured out that no device in my house works on 5Ghz as everything that was WiFi dependent had no signal.
Worth a try though

Not going to argue the point.
