Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

I suppose Webbers got a point here that now drivers can;t just settle for 2nd/3rd to accrue points and that each time they have to go for the win..

Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

I voted for Kubica for the same reason as Kymmy. Last year he was in a position to win the title if he had carried on with that pace. The only reason he didn't was because the car had let him down. He has a lot of raw pace and talent.

McLaren seem to be really struggling at the moment, they aren't even within 1 second of Renault or BrawnGP. Too many problems I think for them to win the title.

Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

I love Rob's choice for F1 World Champion.
I think in the right car though, he could very much be a contender as he has had some impressive drives.

Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

Even Shuey has hit out at the decision to change from points to wins. It might not change this season, but I think the 2010 season will go back to points.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're withdrawing it, but did they really need to confuse the general population 2 weeks before the start of a race?!

Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

Hoist by their own rules, too late to change it, though if the teams had been prepared to wave it through?

So now, looks like they want to try and introduce it for the next season, though it seems both fans and teams are far more supportive of a larger points break for a win, rather than making it an absolute - it was the introduction of the 8 points paying places instead of 6 that devalued wins.

Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

Not withdrawn though but postponed for a year...

I'm actually in two minds about it...

-It'll mean that the driver will go all out for a win instead of settling for points

But on the other side

-It could mean that the championship is likely to be over about 2/3rds the way through the season so making the lat races academic..

Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

I take issue with the FIA changing things year on year. What the hell's wrong with keeping things as they are?

Still, with things at the status quo like last week, I can't wait for Friday practice!

Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

To be honest, the new points system wasn't the FIA's idea, it was Bernie's, the FIA just passed it.

Bernie is hell bent on introducing the 'driver with most wins is champ' system. He says it will definitely be introduced in the 2010 season.

Re: [POLL ADDED] Formula 1 2009 Season

Ferrari, Red Bull and Renault are apparantly questioning the legality of Toyota, Williams and Brawn's diffusers. The FIA has left it up to the stewards of the Australian Grand Prix before making a decision about it. So we're left with a potentially indecisive race before we've even STARTED! I wanna personally throttle those 3 teams if they ruin what could turn out to be a great GP.
