Can browse, but cant ftp or anything else

k, this might not be directly related to my NTL Broadband, but I am stuck.

I have a windows server in the states, dedicated server.
To access it I use Terminal Services, and ftp on occasion.
I run my mail server from it as well.

As of this morning, I can't get connected via ftp/terminal services or email but I can browse all the sites that are hosted on the server.
Server company have assured me that they can access via Terminal Services.

I have 1 meg NTL BB through a SMC Barracuda Router (nothing has been changed on my setup for months, other than Windows Updates and AV updates)

Anyone have any idea why I can surf the pages, but cant get to any other ports (apparently) without timing out?

Have you restricted the address on your windows server that can connect or installed IPSEC?

Had ipsec on it for a long time now, never given me any problems.

Maybe you're not really getting throiugh on the web either: meybe you are getting these pages from the transparent web caches.

no, they are ASP pages, and I can see them updating, as users post etc.

As far as I know NTL have not blocked port 3389 (terminal services). I dont see why you cant connect. Have you changed any of the router settings recently ???

May be worth connecting the cable modem direct to the pc and see if that works.

Can you telnet to the ip on port 3389 ???

If you want to pm me the ip I will see if I can connect via TS !

Connected fine at my end.....

To telnet - telnet *your ip* 3389

tried it, all I got was a minute's wait and a Connect failed message

So I can browse the web, but that's all I can do, extremely strange

Got you on both ports to the firewall logs....

Im confused - Have you acidently restricted your ip on the TS machine firewall ???

It makes no sense that I can connect to your server and you can connect to mine but you cant connect to your own........ My head hurts
