Well I'm sure at the time it was fine as they had nothing to compare it to. Would have nothing on modern refrigeration where digital temps can get perfect temps. My fridge is always 5 degrees and -18 for freezer.

I usually like my fridge as close to 0 as I can get it w/o getting ice in the milk (I like cold milk)

4-5 degrees is the normal fridge temp.

Definitely not too warm. Perfect temp to keep everything safe and drinks nice and cool.
The British food standards agency recommends 5 degrees or lower as
l harmful bacteria tends to grow above 8 degrees.
Most UK refrigerators have 4-5 as the normal range
