Renewal/Upgrade
Hi - not a regular on here but any advice is appreciated.
Package was as below
Talk More International Anytime
Wifi Booster Starter Kit
Maxit TV
M350 Fibre Broadband
Virgin TV 360 Box
Voicemail Free
1 Additional TV Box
Line Rental
Sky Sports Collection
Sky Sports HD Pack
Increase from 95.30 to 104.25 - accepted by me
Have had a few calls from the overseas call centres - on today and have offered a 'better' package for 105.50 to include movies
Also includes Netflix for which I have a seperate subscription of 7.99 - i can cancel it
He also said that I can access Amazon prime via my seperate sub to them
Does this all seem genuine
The originla upgrade team at end of Mar had none ofd this??

Re: Renewal/Upgrade
There have been reports that this outbound call centre is saying any old rubbish, presumably in order to up their commission.
I was offered a package which included the following erroneous claims:
Free Sky Cinema
Free TNT Sports.
No April price rise
An inflated amount that I would have to pay if I didn't sign up.
I don't trust them because of past experiences and contacted the office if the CEO who confirmed that all of the above was nonsense.
I've seen people on the internet complaining because they signed up in good faith then, when the price was higher than was quoted or extra services don't materialise, they are told that no such offer was made.
Some have made a Subject Access Request to obtain a recording of the phone call to prove what they are saying, but have been told that they are 'unavailable'.

I wouldn't accept anything somebody cold calls you about, cable or otherwise. Best you know what you want for what price and ring them.
I'd opt out of marketing with VM and everyone else, they aren't ringing for your benefit.

Good advice IMO.

Yes, good idea. I have read of people receiving emails that don't resemble what was agreed or receiving an email at all.
I'd carefully check it matches what you agreed and contact them straight away if it doesn't. There again some people have said that they also hit the problem of all but being called a liar when they have done this.
I used to ask them to write down what had been agreed on my notes. This worked for a while, but i've now found that they say that they have, but haven't.
About 2 years ago I was offered a deal with Maxit TV, but then a load of channels went off. I rang them and they said i'd agreed to Player (the lowest pack which is basically like Freeview).
I said to look on my notes and this said I'd agreed to go down to Player! I asked for a recording of the phone call. Not available (blow me down with a feather).
I kicked up a fuss and they restored the pay channels that I watched at no extra cost.

Re: Renewal/Upgrade
I got my paperwork through and had alook at it - it shows TNT Sports as an addin - sport is the only bit I am interested in - I called them to check that TNt will be in HD as it always has been - they tell me that my new package will be TNT in SD - they said this will be channel 527 up - this shows on the guide a s a HD channel and is the channel I go to - does this sound correct
I can see different channels for Sky Sports in Sd And HD but cannot see this for TNT

527/8/9 is definitely the TNT HD options. I'm not aware of an SD offering, I'm fairly sure nothing like that shows on my sport options.
