Alarm for new Shed
Now the new shed is up and running we want to store some stuff in there so want it secure as possible.
As well as the locks and padlocks we would like an Alarm on there.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to a good one but don't want anything over the top or to expensive please.
Thanks.

Re: Alarm for new Shed
I bought a battery-operated PIR alarm with a keypad to arm and disarm. It can wake the dead! It's located at the far back wall, so would be hard to get at if a thief didn't know where it was. I specifically went for a model that didn't have telltale LEDs.
It's still available for sale

My bro went for this remote control type.

Re: Alarm for new Shed
I'd be tempted to fit a security bar (or 2) on the door too, normal shed door locks and/or padlock hasps are not going to stop your local burglar and the bar might at least slow them down a little.

Re: Alarm for new Shed
After doing some research I went for this instead.....
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...0?ie=UTF8&th=1
This way I was also able to do the windows to.
The Alarm is loud enough it was heard by neighbours on both sides who thought it was the house alarm and came out to check all was ok. Its always good to have good neighbours to who care.

Re: Alarm for new Shed
Don't use screws on door hinges, use a carriage bolt (I think it's called that) so that you can only remove it from the inside.
I am involved with a charity and some *******s ripped the door open despite the padlock holding. Luckily, it was empty.
But people will get in if they want, regardless of you do.

Or you could use some one way screws.

Re: Alarm for new Shed
I have to say also thanks to Taf for giving dad the idea for the Shed alarm.
Although we didn't get the suggested one dad did some research based on what you suggested and bought the one he posted and we are extremely happy with it.

Re: Alarm for new Shed
oh dear.
You'll need to put a big warning on the door mate, because if that happened to someone breaking into the shed, they'd probably end up claiming off you for almost scaring them to death.

When I worked at a Uni, there used to be a sign outside the Nuclear Physics stating "This Door Is Alarmed!".
Some wag of a student put this photo below the sign with the statement "So is this cat".
