Season 2018/2019
Seeing the football season is finished now and the fixtures will be out in a couple of weeks plus the transfer market is now open l better start the new football season thread off with a likely big money transfer.

I know, it's rocked the footy world.
A fee of £8.75 was involved and his boots come with him .

Re: Season 2018/2019
Not surprising given the politics and ego's at this club.

Re: Season 2018/2019
Hearing that Aston Villa are on the brink of administration and that their entire squad is now for sale. They've just resolved the clubs tax bill but are losing £5m a month after borrowing heavily on parachute payments that hadn't been paid yet.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44382488
What actually happened - Lerner was so desperate to get out he sold the club to a Chinese investor who knew fine well he couldn't actually invest due to the restrictions on overseas investments from China. Instead this was an absolute gamble to make a cool £100m profit. He thought he could gamble the clubs future against promotion and resell upon promotion and that's failed miserably.

Winter break for Premier League clubs in February from 2019-20.

The break will be staggered across two weeks, with five matches on the first weekend and five the following weekend.

Lets hope they don't worm their way out of it with some lucrative friendly in America or the Far East.

Well I won't be holding my breath on that one, they'll probably be played under the guise of ' exceptional fitness and teamwork orientated training sessions' . . . in front of sell out crowds

Well, when they pay a player from a Championship side who are on the verge of a relegation battle, and who is out of contract in the summer, 40k a week what do they expect? I think they paid a fair amount for Lansbury also.

Re: Season 2018/2019
Aston Villa held crisis talks this afternoon, nothing much to report on that front, reportedly they've been slapped with a second bill they cannot pay. They can't afford to get rid of Steve Bruce as of yet, Jack Grealish has to be sold, and they're touting him about for £40m, something I doubt anyone will bother to pay when they know Villa are in no position to dick around.
On the same front, Sporting Lisbon are also now on the brink of financial collapse after several terminated contracts, the highest profile being Bas Dost, rated at £50 million, has now left the club. It's thought Benitez is already in for Dost, as are a number of Premier League clubs, but still bad times for Sporting Lisbon who now find themselves owing far more than their club's value and profit on something that's getting worse every day.

Re: Season 2018/2019
Fairly reliable source in Dubai has spoken out about the Newcastle United takeover. Staveley still wants the club. However another party submitted a request of asking price three weeks ago and are yet to receive a response. I think that sums up how quick any takeover if any will be done...
Imagine having one of the best managers in world football and being stuck with this cack.

Re: Season 2018/2019
Cristiano Ronaldo on the verge of joining Juventus. Meeting occurred a few hours ago with the Madrid president and Jorge Mendes to confirm Ronaldo is leaving Real.
Come on Mourinho, sort it out.

Re: Season 2018/2019
Fiat set to subsidise Ronaldos wages. This is actually happening. I always thought he'd end up back in England. Undoubtedly set to be a Triple League winner in 3 of the top four leagues in Europe. Remarkable if he wins a champions league title at 3 different clubs.
Edit: Contract agreed, medical pending. Juventus are awaiting confirmation from Real to confirm the deal.
Edit 2: Lax sources this mind but Juventus have scheduled conferences for Saturday and Sunday. I'm expecting Sunday to be wiped off if he's announced in time for Saturday. Why wasn't Benitez in for him!

Re: Season 2018/2019
Massive opening fixture in the National League - Salford v Leyton Orient - be there or be square. Salford are quickly buying their way out of non-league - good riddance i say, money always spoils non-league.

Re: Season 2018/2019
Few more to get through.
Aston Villa are still no better off. Latest news now claims they currently can't even afford to make free transfers. This still hangs on them getting big money for Jack Grealish, however with Villa's crisis being well known, clubs are obviously low balling the offers knowing that Villa at some point will be forced to take it.
Steve Round was sacked as director yesterday and the club is still on the brink of collapse.
Newcastle have rejected a £15m bid for winger Matt Ritchie. Holding out for close to £17 million as they aim to bring in Andros Townshend again but for £20 million this time around. Newcastle also had a bid of £20m turned down for Plea of Nice. They're now wanting £27 million. Unsure if that'll be pursued. The sale of Mikel Merino and Chancel Mbemba may play a part in it.
West ham made a bid of £20m for Bruno Fernandes of Sporting which is a pretty good deal. Given the situation in Lisbon and the crisis the club finds itself in they may be forced to accept.

Re: Season 2018/2019
Aston Villa owner issues unbelievable statement suggesting failure to gain promotion has resulted in this financial difficulty. Not noting that he gambled the future of the club on going up.
