UFC 214: Cormier vs Jones II
UFC 214: Cormier vs Jones II
Main Card
Daniel Cormier (C) vs. Jon Jones LHW
Tyron Woodley (C) vs Demian Maia WW
Cristiane Justino vs. Tonya Evinger Women's FW for vacated title
Robbie Lawler vs Donald Cerrone WW
Jimi Manuwa vs Volkan Oezdemir
(C) - Denotes reigning champion
All title matches are 5x5 minute rounds including the vacant women's featherweight title. The rest are 3x5 minute's
TV: BT Sports 2 - 3am
One of the best cards of the year, the long awaited rematch, Cyborg looking to reign supreme and David Haye's possible future boxing opponent Jimi Manuwa in action.
I think given Jones' multiple extended suspensions and lack of in ring action really gives Cormier a better chance than people have him. Tyron Woodley needs an impressive win after a dud fight, Cyborg will be looking to continue her usual rampage.
Again though, we may see another boxing crossover here. If Manuwa wins it'll be interesting to see if he brings Haye's name into it. Baring in mind Manuwa has been knocked out twice against fairly mediocre opposition, he packs a punch but he's in dreamland trying to bang with Haye in a boxing ring, not to mention making the jump to heavyweight, one leg or not I doubt he stands much of a chance.

Re: UFC 214: Cormier vs Jones II
We'll see more MMA & boxing shenanigans I reckon sadly. It's starting to become a very expensive circus.

I believe Michael 'Venom' Page will be floating between the two sports and recently signed with David Haye promotions to fight on Dave.

Only UFC card I have looked forward to for a while. Looks great on paper, hope they turn in to great fights and not play safe hugs and human blankets. Last thing I want to see is Cormier doing a GSP to play safe.

I'd hate to think MMA is going the way of professional wrestling but I can see it happening.

Re: UFC 214: Cormier vs Jones II
If anything WWE is starting to present its shows much like UFC/Boxing which I just don't get. Punditry before an event that is stacked with pre-determined results? eh Then punditry after. I was bewildered by the idea.

It is quickly turning in to who can make themselves in to the biggest character or by creating drama to promote themselves in to better fights and money. All trying to emulate McNugget. So you are not far off with that speculation.
Will all be about marketing superfights of brand named fighters in the end instead of ability and earned ranking in a weight division.

Free KO. Prelim card.
---------- Post added at 01:52 ---------- Previous post was at 00:03 ----------
If anyone's skipping Fights, there's also Adrien Broner vs Mickey Garcia at 140lb catchweight around 3:15am. Not worth another topic.

Manuwa gets obliterated. David Haye? guess not.

Re: UFC 214: Cormier vs Jones II
Jon Jones wins the LHW title with a TKO victory over Daniel Cormier. I thought he'd have been rusty but damn is this guy unique, could be unbeatable. Not sure why he'd want to fight a guaranteed doping violation in Lesnar though. I see him winning anyway, Lesnar couldn't survive the kicks, knees and elbows and Jones won't allow the fight to go to the ground so Lesnar can avoid taking punches. Make no mistake, Jon Jones is now what Anderson Silva was considered to be, the guy is so versatile and almost impossible to figure out.
Tyron Woodley retains against Maia in a dull fight, the second dull fight on the bounce from Woodley, this had the potential to be a dud from the offset though, Demian never wanted to trade with Woodley and shot takedown after takedown whilst Woodley was hesitant to throw himself off balance with shots. Woodley isn't as exciting as Champion, doesn't have that same hunger now he's the champion.
Cyborg wins a lopsided fight, woman had some chin on her but she got tagged again before just caving in to a vicious knee. There's no one in UFC that can trade with her and she's now champion of a division that absolutely no one will willingly step up to.
Robbie Lawler scraped a win over The Donald in a slugfest, could've went either way after a round a piece and a very close third round. I'd have called it a draw personally.
Jimi Manuwa got finished in 22 seconds, after the talk and the calling out of David Haye, he then goes and makes a fool of himself, getting rocked multiple times from a clinch? How he saw himself banging with David Haye is beyond me.
Besides the Woodley fight, an enjoyable PPV, one of the rare ones I've bothered to watch the entire card.

Re: UFC 214: Cormier vs Jones II
Bit delayed, he blew hot after the event.
His career is almost certainly over
