You just can't scrap them willy nilly just like that as even if they announced the end of it tomorrow it would be quite a few years before all their customers had the V6 box as their STB..

A bit clunky and slow loading on demand content but I've not had any major problems with reliability.

A major headache for anyone using the Tivo to store content to watch over a long term. Especially where the content isn't routinely repeated.

I didn't know it wasn't on the TiVo. Sounds like VM are starting to do what they did to V+ customers.

They're probably alright as a second box eg in a bedroom for watching the odd programme, but useless to use as a full time main box. Out of interest, are they any faster for those who have hooked them up to a V6?
I find it interesting that the V6 was primarily named as such, without the TiVo branding. I think Horizon software could be on the horizon!

Sticking with mine OB. That extra scart output is ever so handy and I've never filled more than half of it up. My VHD in the bedroom is staying too, no hard drive equals no noise and a peaceful night.

Yes, I suppose that just replacing them all will cause problems for some subscribers.
I don't think that old Tivo boxes should be replaced by anything other than V6s though, unless specifically requested by the customer. As long as the old Tivos are out there, they will be an embarrassment to Virgin.

When I was with Virgin my Tivo box worked fine for me,a bit slow granted but still OK as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2017)
I have an old TiVo, usually over 90 per cent full. It is a bit slow to respond sometimes but otherwise it is reliable and a valued piece of kit. It is often used for Netflix as well as recording programmes to watch later.
My only complaint is the lack of dynamic EPG. Once again the recording of Casualty was messed up last night. Presumably that applied to V6 too

Yes. it weird cable boxes are unable to do that. Yet my freeview recorder which is 10 years old, adjusts exactly to when programmes start/finish.

As does mine. On balance, I must admit I do like the dynamic EPG.

Well, you must be one of the lucky ones, Den. You've heard all the complaints about the Tivo on here, so you know that a great many people have not regarded their Tivos as 'fine and dandy'! It was great when it first came out but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now.

Cable Forum does not represent the vast majority of Tivo users OB and you would be foolish to believe it does.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2017)
To me it is absolutely beyond belief that even the V6 does not have a dynamic EPG especially as VM are so pathetic at changing the guide even when they have 24 hours or more notice

The reason for this has been discussed many times before on the Virgin Media forum. Don't expect to get a dynamic EPG ever with TiVo software.
If a dynamic EPG is important to you then you will need to use a different provider.
Personally, I simply watched the late-running Casualty on BBC iPlayer.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2017)
Does Horizon software have a dynamic EPG? If so I hope VM get it soon instead of TiVo. As I have suggestions turned off I am not sure what advantage TiVo software has for me

You can always switch Suggestions on again.
Do you not ever bookmark programmes from On Demand and Netflix? I find that extremely useful and a good way of remembering where I am with all the different programmes I watch.
