Pacific Rim* - Woah!
http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/wb/pacificrim/
I would recommend downloading the 1080p version for best effect....
*Mr_love_monkey - don't even go there.....

Seems that there's some good sci-fi stuff next year with Oblivion (already has it's own thread), The hosts (currently reading the book), After Earth (Will smith)...

Yep it looks good - though as soon as I saw it I was reminded of Riply v Alien Queen

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
I wasn't interested when I first read the premise... "Mech suits versus alien sea monsters? Meh. probably just some sub-par Michael Bay type-crap like 'Battleship' ".
But... Love the trailer *and* it has a good cast (Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam & The Wire / Luther's Idris Elba) *and* it has a top-notch director (Guillermo Del Toro).

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
Awesome FX, would be nice if, for a change, they were accompanied by a decent story and a bit of character development.
I fear I might ask too much

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
Probably not - the director is known for his storytelling.

Ahh....Guillermo del Toro I was mixing him up with an Italian Director who specialised in Gory Horror.
It would seem that I have watched and enjoyed all Guillermo's movies with the exception of Pan's Labyrinthe so there is hope after all.

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets
del Toro's made some great films. Chronos, Blade 2, Hellboy 1 & 2, Pan's Labyrinth...
He was lined up to direct The Hobbit, but finally quit after getting fed up with all the delays.
