Talking Add a modem/hub/router to my cable line

Hello,
I'm renting a room with a cable line in it. I currently have a Virgin V Box HD, which is connected to my TV. There is a Virgin Super Hub connected to the cable service which is located in the lounge, which is unfortunately located in the back of the house. My room is located in the front of the house. Unfortunately because of this arrangement the signal is very weak. Most times I get no connection when I use my laptop. My iPad connects, but the signal is so weak I've decided to switch to using the ipad's 3G connection instead.
Question; since I do have a cable line, and cable box, in my room, would I need to buy a Virgin Super Hub to place in my room so I can get broadband, or are there other options I can use, like buying a cable modem, or a router designed to connect to cable, etc?
I also have a Sony Entertainment PC which I would like to connect to the Internet using an Ethernet cable.
I don't own the Virgin cable service so I'm not sure if I can actually purchase the super hub for my room.
Or, if there are other options I should consider please let me know.
Thanks for your help.

You can't have two SuperHubs on the same account.

Your best option would to get a pair of these and one of these and this. This will then give you a wireless connection in your room but connected back to the existing SuperHub, and the switch will allow you to have a wired connection.

So it would go SuperHub > Homplug > Homeplug > Switch > Wireless access point and PC

It may cost around £100 to do, but long term it's certainly cheaper than a seperate broadband connection

Or just buy this?

Obviously it will have to be outside your room, around half way from the routers location to where you are.
