hi all
just upgraded my old router to a dlink dir 655
the problem im having is this....when i turn my 2 pcs on and use the net..i can get a download speed of around 15mb...and thru wireless to my laptop of around 8mb..not too bad i thought
but after i surf or play a few games online and then try a speed test...after a few hours...the speedtest shows that it has dropped to around 1.5mb
has anyone else seen such dramatic drops in download speeds?
ive checked to make sure that the firmware is up to date...the 2 pcs are running xp and vista...the laptop is running xp
im on vm 20mb...but i am using an old ntl home 100 modem...which vm says is adequate
is there any setting i need to change on the router?
or should i try and squeeze a new modem out of virgin to see if that helps?
any suggestion would be a great help
You have a NTL Ambit 100 on the XL (20mb) service?
These modems only do 12mb, if its the 100 model you will need a new modem and its quite suprizing you even get 15mb!
